How did you get involved in lumberjack sports?
I needed a physical outlet to compliment the reading and writing I was doing in school, a thousand or so pages of reading and 10-25 pages of writing each week made me interested in a bit of balance. Met the president of the college team at the Involvement Fair on campus, went to the field to swing and axe and never really left.

When did you begin participating/competing in lumberjack sports and the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Series?
I started competing in graduate school during the Fall of 2006 after growing up watching Melvin, Rick Halvorson and others on TV from the early days of the Series.

Are you related to any current or former STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Series competitors?

Best/strongest STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Series discipline:
My single and underhand have been getting the most time lately, going to have be strong all around to dance with the big dogs.

Any advice for the collegiate competitors?
Use a video camera and be coachable. It takes time and energy to climb the ladder, be patient with yourself but never stop working to improve, learn from every rep.

Which STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Series pro would you most like to train with?
I have been fortunate to train with many of them already. Adam Lasalle lives up the hill and we get cut a good number of logs together. If I could train in Washington with Branden and David Moses reminding me to relax then have Jamie and The on Skype for coaching or to supervise post training feeding before meeting with Matt, Jason and Scooter to talk shop that would be a good way to learn a bit more. Going back in time to train with Melvin and Jim Alexander, in Australia in the 80’s would be remarkable for many reasons. Real time foreign education from the Ginger Ninja, Laurence or Bobby Dowling is always solid too.

Name three songs on your training/working out playlist?
"Bulls on Parade" by Rage Against the Machine, ‘Till I Collapse" by Eminem, "Are You Sure Hank Done it This Way" by Waylon Jennings.

Proudest moment in your life so far:
I finally completed and defended my Master’s thesis on the ethics of hunting in the Fall of 2013, five years late but finally done. My hound Aretha received her Canine Good Citizen certification in November after 2.5 years of hard work and riding shotgun when Lasalle was not available.

Anything else you'd like to share?
It is my pleasure to have this opportunity to step onto the big stage with some of my best friends and biggest idols. I travel between 10,000 and 15,000 miles a year for contests from Washington State to Wisconsin and will not take this chance for granted.
