    Unleash the Beast!!!
Really nice upgrades without price increase. Stihl super powerful and torquey. This one has a rev limiter on it to protect it but disappears when under load. Lot easier to work with or may I say simpler. Turn choke on - pull to start -hit throttle choke pops off automatically . Just push the button to stop. I use my fs90r for just about anything green stemmed, grass, weeds but when it gets tough I move up to the eliminators below: My FS130r was just to powerful it ate up orange .095 and ... read more burgundy line .105 in the 25 - 2 autocut so I strictly use it with Stihl's 3 blade brush knfe (mean combination) briars, inch trees, thick weeds.and vines. i bought the FS 131r to use with the new larger autocut 36-2 and the thicker .130 line. Well I have to say, this is a mean combination heavy weed and small woody weeds. Very little breakage and handle the power a lot better. The new Autocut 36-2 is made like the 25-2 but heavy duty and bigger. The buttons to release the top to get to the spool is a little easier to get to. I had to give the Fs131r a 5 for dependablity based on the performance of the fs130r. I will review this one again in the fall 2017 if there are any problems of dependability but right now she is a beast..

    A Beast
An exceptional upgrade from my FS130R. Powerful with much torque to get the job done efficiently and quickly, especially in grass, tough grass, weeds, and brush. A bit lighter than the 130R and a slightly largeer fuel tank as well. Starts quickly with little to no effort. Cannot ask for better trimmer than this one and I have owned a few like Echo (my second choice), Toro, Troy-Built and such...etc.

    Buy this trimmer!!
This thing is a beast! I immediately put it to work in a 5 acre pasture and it has run flawlessly from day one! Always starts first pull, has plenty of power to cut through the thickest brush, and is easy on the back and arms. The Stihl harness that's includes really does eliminate most of the operator fatigue once you get it set up with a proper balance! I would recommend this trimmer to anyone who only wants to buy a trimmer one time in their life!

    Doesn't stop!
Cut out my 200 ft fence row of overgrown sapplings, some of them upto 3" using the chipper blade.. In about 20 minutes! My previous trimmer was the FS45.. A good trimmer, but not fit for heavy use.. When cutting sapplings, I wanted something that would cut through them without flinching, and not bog down. This trimmer is it. I have owned it for almost 30 days now, have got more done on my place in the last few weeks than I have in the past 6 years! Definitely not a purchase I regret!

    Lots of power, runs great!
Starts on 3rd pull after 12 months! Getting 3 times more work done than my old craftsman. Comfort/power/easy start, one pull starts after warmed up.Wanted a Stihl since I 1st heard of them. Wish I would have gotten on sooner! If you have heavy growth (spring in nw washington) then I need this much power. Please use non ethanol fuel for storage with gas additive, you won't regret this.

    lots of power
I have the FS 90 R, so hope it is comparable. Starts pretty well. Usually within 3 pulls. Great power compared to my old trimmer. Starting into 3rd summer and still going strong. Have used the pre mixed can fuel. Seems to help out in this and my chain saw.

My dad has a 90 and I used it for years and I absolutely loved it, so when I had to finally purchase one I tried to get him to upgrade his so I could buy the older one. He would not upgrade. Luckily the local shop had one. Starts up on the first pull. These are awesome trimmers and definitely worth the money. Go ahead and get the straight shaft 91 and you'll have all the power you need.

    Very strong trimmer
Used my other 2 trimmers (box stores junk)as targets.... the 91r was well worth the extra price. Great power very quite. Probably more than I will ever need does not bog down powers right through. Very easy to start. Weight was not a factor. Very well balanced. Purchased from lankys in Dunn nc. Great people

    Best out there
My friend let me borrow his after telling him I would never spend that much on a weed eater. After using his, I went and bought my own. It's worth every penny. I have the brush blade as well. This has saved me countless hours on working on cheap machines. It's easy to run and use. Keep it maintained and there won't be any issues.

    Great trimmer/cutter!
We are clearing out pesky Buckthorn on our land. I already had a previous trimmer from Stihl, but I wanted to add the bush knife attachment with an approved model. This one did the trick and it takes down the Buckthorn very effortlessly. My girlfriend, who is very tiny, spent hours using this thing on the weeds and Buckthorn with no complaints.

strong, cuts quick thru heavy brush
The fs240r is strongly recommended for its quick cutting thru thick and heavy brush. It's the same as the fs240, but I go with the fs240r cause you can maneuver it around confortable unlike the 240 with the bike handle, very hard to maneuver it. 5 star rating

    Great trimmer
this trimmer is a very nice trimmer. Very well built , great quality and very comfortable to operate. Lots of power. Worth every penny. But it's not the Stihl fs 250 R. The 250 was a true power house. This 240 is close but not the 250. The 240 is lacking the top end of what the 250 R had. Stihl replaced the 250 R with this 240 R. Overall all its meant to last and is very powerful and you can't go wrong buying this 240 R. Btw it is made in Germany . Great German quality .

The features on this machine make using it easy.
The FS 94 R has the variable throttle control which allows for operating it at lower rpm's around sensitive areas in your yard. It's ability to be operated at any angle is nice for edging and cutting at many angles. The exhaust routing is great, never feel the heat from it while operating no matter what angle I'm using it, which was always an issue with other products I've owned. Starting is a breeze, choke is automatically released once warmed up, when you give it a little throttle to start ... read more operating. The ability to utilize heavier line increases the versatility of the machine.

Owned for 1 year. Been great so far
Great trimmer. Starts with a couple pulls. Easy to replace string. Super light for a commercial trimmer. Used as a homeowner with about an acre. Works well for edging sidewalk as well. Maybe a tad under powered for commercial use but I don't know for sure. Reliability should be excellent as this is a true 2 stroke design engine. Perfect for the homeowner that wants an excellent easy to operate gas trimmer

    Very lightweight with power.
I really love this product. I am very familiar with Stihl products, as I have worked with some early model weed trimmers and also own a FS 55 R. This product had me question the first few moments. But that was because of the break-in period. Now that it is starting to work itself in the power I am getting, I cannot ask for anything better. The lightweight trait has truly made this a worthwhile purchase, I weed about two hours straight on my lawns and this model helps with fighting fatigue.
