So much better than troy built
I have used a Troy Built trimmer for a couple of years. But it was to heavy and hard to start. I purchased a Stihl trmmer a couple of weeks ago and i am very pleased. For someone like myself with a bad back it is so much lighter and im very impressed with the way lt cuts weeds without chocking down. I was able to get the job done without having to restart the trimmer over and over like i did with the last trimmer i owned. Thanks Stihl for a great product.

    Plenty of power
Was tired of putting up with trimmers that lacked power, so I sprung for the low end pro model after using several Stihl pro saws. Was not let down. Plenty of power! Starts easy. Good handling. The only complaint is that when I overload the machine in thick brush, one of the two cords brake, and I have to shut it off to manually straighten out the string...but this is probably my fault, cutting brush, not grass! Even with this abuse, I'm still on my first spool of string. This unit is well above ... read more the needs of your average homeowner.

    Good power for yard maintenance
I use this trimmer for keeping a couple of homestead acres trimmed. It has plenty of power for my needs. With the auto-feed head, it's fairly easy to use. The only problem is that its rotation is reverse from my older, smaller Stihl curve-shaft trimmer, so that takes some getting used to so that the debris flies ahead of you and not back into your ankles and legs. Definitely wear eye protection because with the power, stuff flies at high speed when cutting. I don't mind paying the Stilh ... read more premium for the Stihl dependability.

Awesome job with blade at cutting small scrub brush.
Had a FS 66 for over 40years and decided time to replace it. Have a FS40 for around the house that works great for grass trimming but needed a straight shaft to do heavy brush cutting. Had to take several breaks while using it. It worked harder than I wanted to. Would buy this product again, maybe in another 40years? Still have a very dependable 028Boss chainsaw I've had for over 40years also, and still us it.

    Good buy
Using the three sided blade with this makes short work of even 1” stocks/trunks. Does a great job. My only issue is that the spacer between the blade and assembly bolt wore out and flew off the first day of use. I did however clear a half acre of thick, tall weeds on top of gravel and steel slag. I still, use it. Keeps on cutting

Handier than pockets on a shirt.
This is my second FS 91. My last one was "liberated " from my carport. After spending a day with a handsaw, I decided to pull the trigger on a new one. This newer model is really nice. Lots of improvements over my older one. I'm locking this one up this time. I will never do without one of these again. I only have 7 acres to care for, but this makes it so much easier. If I recall correctly, I paid more for my last one. These are a real bargain.

Lots of power. Not as easy to use.
Plenty of power and torque. The trimmer has sufficient torque to bury the head in the ground if you try. The throttle is difficult to modulate - it is more like an on/off switch. Unless you are going through really heavy stuff, you do NOT need full throttle. I end up feathering the throttle as I go. The trimmer spins the opposite direction as my old one (clockwise, when viewed from below). This means that when I hold the trimmer to my right and trim with the left side of the head, it flings ... read more debris back in my face. If I try to trim with the right side of the head, the guard blocks my view. The trimmer is very heavy, as would be expected with a solid-shaft trimmer with a large engine and fuel load.

    Excellent trimmer
Just got this unit a few days ago. I maintain a park a lot of trimming. I have a FS 250 with handlebars excellent trimmer lots of power thats kind of heavy for just trimming. so I purchased the 111r. excellent trimmer does not have the power of the 250 but it is a lot smaller engine so that is to be expected. The four stroke definitely seems easier to start than the two-stroke and gets much better fuel economy. so far this trimmer has been awesome I highly recommend it .

This is the best trimmer I've ever owned. Lots of power, starts right up, great distance between engine and gearbox, not too heavy, just great. I also have an FS90R and it is also fantastic. I like a little more power of the 111R and I run a brush blade on it. It will cut through about anything. The best thing about Stihl products are, the gearbox is designed so that grass or weeds won't wrap around the spool and bog it down. This trimmer cuts it and spits it!

    Mean Little Machine
I love this trimmer. It sounds like a well tuned dirt bike and the power is really good. The trimmer weight and balance is absolutely perfect. Hopefully the last trimmer I will ever have to buy (as a homeowner), as it is replacing a 24 year old and a 2 year "other brand(s)". It is expensive, but like I said.........if it's the last trimmer I have to buy, it will be worth it.

    Look no further
I worked golf course maintenance years ago running big stihl trimmers Now just take care of a few lawns and a few hours trimming weekly on my property. After replacing cheap straight shaft weed eaters every couple yr. Decided to spend the money and upgrade to real thing like my chainsaw and never made a better purchase this is the lightest most powerful well balanced trimmer with almost no vibration to hands. I'm so amazed that there is such a perfect trimmer

Great edger if you value reliability and longevity.
The FS 94R is a near perfect edger. It has adequate power, and has an impressive power to weight ratio. If you have large lawns or need to use it for long periods of time, the weight will be very comfortable. As typical from stihl, this trimmer starts with little effort. It is built to last a long time. The only criticism I have it that its features seem slightly out dated. It could use a new trimmer head that feeds faster and easier.

Wish I had bought it sooner
My last trimmer died finally after 10 years and I have a Stihl chainsaw I love so I figured I would get the trimmer from them. This thing is amazing. I can trim for 3 straight hours and not be fatigued. I have 2.5 acres i maintain and lots to trim around. The anti vibration is awesome. The power is more than enough. I love the strap to help take some of the weight. It starts in 2 pulls the when cold and only a single pull once you have warmed it up. I absolutely love Stihl products. I will keep ... read more buying other tools from them as my older stuff wears out. Thanks!!

    This thing has POWER
I own a commercial landscaping business and we also do maintenance for school districts. I use this trimmer for 8 hrs of continues run time only to stop for gas or line and this thing is bulletproof. Powerful but not a gas hog, only down side is shortly after break in period time. you need to have valve clearance adjusted. Ive bought three of these trimmers and have sold them in running order and got back most of my initial investment. Great bang for your buck.

Everything you could demand of a trimmer/brush cutter
I use this both on a 1/2 acre lot in the city and a 100+ acre hunting property here in NC. It excels at trimming grass around sidewalks with the string head as much as it does cutting down 3" diameter trees with the chisel tooth blade. As others have stated it's a lot of motor for a string trimmer head and you're often on off the throttle for urban grass trimming jobs. But for rural jobs, thick/tall grass, or spinning a chisel tooth saw blade cutting small trees with authority the extra power is ... read more not only welcome; it's necessary. I use this machine for both very light duty residential work and clearing ATV trails and thick rural brush. It excels at both and several of my friends have bought FS131s of their own after running mine.

    Best trimmer I have owned
This trimmer is the easiest to start of the several I have owned over the years. This is the first Stihl trimmer I have owned, but I already own a chain saw and mini tiller made by Stihl. All of the products have been first class. For the first time, I have tried their pre mixed gas, oil, fuel stabilizer product to fuel it, and the difference in performance is phenomenal. The other great advantage is there is no strong burning oil smell usually associated with 2 stroke engines. The last one I ... read more bought was a 4 stroke made by a different company, and that was a huge mistake. It was hard to start, had little torque compared to this one, and it blew a head gasket early in the second year. I have learned my lesson, and will be sticking to Stihl products from here on out.

    Beast mode weed eater
I bought the FS 311 to replace my FS 250 which had to be 15+ years old. The FS 311 has roughly equivalent power but weighs less and is easier to start. It will handle anything that gets in it's way...usually at half throttle. It will take down mature sage brush but the string won't last long doing that. Braided steel may be my next option.
