    A DIRECT REPLACEMENT
I am a caretaker at a property in Vermont that consists of 75 acres of mostly woods. There was a mishmash of equipment in the barn when I started 5 years ago. One such piece was an older 90 that ran perfectly. Unfortunately after almost 30 years the gear box failed and a replacement was no longer available. Naturally I replaced it with a new FS90. I have not been disappointed. I only use it with the blade and walk about the woods destroying as much of the thorny stuff as I can to ease access for ... read more logging and also to assist the wildlife population which is in abundance. This thing has not missed a beat in the 4 years that I have been running it.

Great Product for Heavy Residential Use!
I have used Stihl products for various jobs over the years, but have never owned any of my own. I did not hesitate to purchase a Stihl trimmer when I needed to clean up and clear my property, that had been let go by the previous owner. With the FS-90, I had also purchased the Brush Knife Blade. I was able to quickly and effectively take out years of overgrowth. I now can maintain by whipping areas with the string. I use the machine a minimum of twice a week and have had no issues.

The FS 90 has all the power i need to maintain my 2 acre home place and clear trails to my Tree stands.
I first borrowed a FS 90 w/ steel blade to see if it had enough power to clear trails to my treestands. Let me tell ou it does. I decided to buy one to use for maintaining my 2 acre yard and love it. The only issue i have had was running out of gas just shy of completing my yard work. But to me that is no big deal. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a quality machine for most any trimming job or even brush cleanup.

    Powerful
I'm a semi pro. We run a small law care business but have ran stihl for years. I use to buy the residential models and finally decided to co bigger. I first bought the FS100RX loved the power to weight on that machine. The latest addition was a FS130R omg the power of this machine was mind blowing over the FS100RX was substantial more. My employees say the will pack the extra weight for the power and do so when they don't really need it.

    GREAT PRODUCT
I bought this machine because the cheap "Orange" one I bought at Lowe's was shooting oil out of the exhaust. This is the third one! When starting this machine for the first time which was the first pull I knew by the feel and sound this was going to be a new experience. I cut what normally takes an hour and a half to twenty five minutes.. This thing is a beast!! If you want to save time and have a great product go spend the money now!!!! I will buy only Stihl from now on!!

    All around great trimmer.
This machine is awesome! I've had my unit approximately 3 years and I use multiple tool attachments. I currently have the edger, adjustable hedge trimmer, and string trimmer head. Other than a recall on the fuel cap (which was corrected free of charge by my local Stihl dealer.) I have had zero issues. Perfect mix of power and balance, I can run the unit for hours and it doesn't feel heavy. I have ran echo, Husqvarna, John Deere, Red Max, and Shindaiwa and I always come back to the Stihl.

    Excellent Trimmer!
This trimmer is probably overkill for my 2 acre rural property, but I can swing it as fast as possible through thick, knee-height grass without bogging the engine down. It has plenty of power to take down saplings if needed. This thing starts easily, usually one or two pulls. It runs well and vibrations are minimal. I can run a couple tanks of fuel non-stop without numb hands or discomfort. The harness is worth its weight in gold. For a marginal price increase over the 110, it was totally worth it.

    excellent product
I have been through the expensive junk trimmers from the box stores. I have 1 acre that is surrounded by hay fields and barbed wire fence. I got this bad boy for trimming around the fence where the thick Johnson grass is. I was sick of all of the other trimmers bogging down. This one doesn't back down to any challenge. I would highly recommend this trimmer if you are finally ready to step up to a trimmer that will last forever and get the job done. I get my trimming done in half the time, with a ... read more quarter of the back pain.

    Brush cutting machine
I purchased this to primarily cut down over grown brush and small trees. This things chews up anything you put in front of it. I use the chisel blade and can cut through a 2" tree in seconds. The blade even works well in heavy thick grass. I sharpen it between tanks of gas and it just keeps cutting. This machine has so much power I am almost afraid of breaking something when I get to swinging it.

    Impressive Trimmer
This trimmer is very impressive. It is very very powerful. I am 15 years old and am still getting used to this power. I mow quite a few lawns every week, so I needed to buy a reliable trimmer. I use this for trimming and edging and it works great.

    No Competion
I've run string trimmers for over 35 years. I've owned too many to count and finally bought the last one. For what it's made for this trimmer is unbeatable. I've owned Poulans , Echos and some not in business any more and this Stihl leaves them all in the dust. It'll cut through thick weeds with no problem and run forever when light trimming. Running non-ethanol gas and never had an issue of starting or running. Love this trimmer!

Great Trimmer but a pricey FS 100 RX
The 100 RX is lighter than the 90 I tried and more powerful and only $25 bucks more !! It gets a little hot on the arm if your resting it against the trimmer's motor as you work, but that's a bad habit I have. Very powerful, easy to start. A little pricey but dependability is what counts. Nothing worse than having to fiddle with equipment when your trying to get something done. Use only non-ethanol fuel with your oil mix !!! I run premium with no ethanol fuel with great success.

Easiest starting trimmer ive ever owned
The sales rep went over how to prime and start this trimmer in great detail. Also covered how to replace string in the head. I only use the stihl string, which works great for me with over a acre and a large pond in the back yard. Owned for over a year now, and this thing eats grass and weeds like butter, and i have no problems at all with the auto string head. Great product, as can be expected from STIHL, and as the saying goes, you get what you pay for and im so glad there is still a few great ... read more products still made in the good ole USA.

    Lightweight with wide power band.
I've used the FS 94 R for almost a year now professionally. The FS 94 R leaves you with a linear and highly adaptable power band. Its been great for delicate work as well as wide open throttle situations, whereas a lot of string trimmers are usually top end focused. Weight and ergonomics have been great as well. I haven't had much experience in cooler weather, but in 100 F+ heat I've never had any overheating issues and it cools down quickly. Fuel efficiency has been great as well. All that ... read more being said, I wouldn't choose the 94R for heavy string trimming, I feel it excels as a maintenance trimmer and not for clearing. Finally, the adjustment wheel is nice, but I never use it.

    Look no further
I worked golf course maintenance years ago running big stihl trimmers Now just take care of a few lawns and a few hours trimming weekly on my property. After replacing cheap straight shaft weed eaters every couple yr. Decided to spend the money and upgrade to real thing like my chainsaw and never made a better purchase this is the lightest most powerful well balanced trimmer with almost no vibration to hands. I'm so amazed that there is such a perfect trimmer

    POWERFUL trimmer!
I purchased the FS 110R a couple months ago and it's way more than I expected it to be! Only issue so far was trying to power it on in 20 degree F weather, it took about 5 pulls rather than its typical 1 pull start. I do wish that it had a better shield, almost the entire time I'm using it, I'm being hurt a lot on my face by debris. Overall, its amazing! Also, could someone tell me what the black plastic peice with grooves in between the loop handle and trigger is for?

    Excellent product.
Just bought my first Stihl trimmer (FS 110R) today. What a beast. After killing 2 other trimmers in 5 years I opted to spend a little (okay a lot) more on a quality trimmer and do not regret this decision. Not only does this baby rip through 5' high weeds it also feathers down nicely to trim around the flower gardens. This is another prime example of getting what you pay for. If you can afford it, I highly recommend this trimmer. Starts after a half pull and has plenty of torque at both high and ... read more low speed. Noise level is acceptable and Stihl's take on a 4 stroke running on mixed gas is a pleasant surprise.
