Simply-Put ! This is Stihl the "BEST" trimmer I have ever owned...
Works better than any other trimmer I have ever owned. The engine has a very-high rate of speed and, is very easy to start once you learn how the choke system is set-up to function. The "Dealer" was Truthful about the quality of this trimmer. The care and maintenance of this trimmer is simple if one takes the (time) to read and follow the care instructions /manual. Trimmer line is easier - maintained if running at full speed when being tapped for line extension. At a lower speed the line will ... read more not release properly and can become a problem for the Trimmer to function properly. Most people do not seem to realize this fact and, blame it on the trimmer its-self. all lines will eventually break, some sooner than others depending on the type of Terrain being used on but! there are ways to help extend the life of any trimmers line.

“You need to get a Stihl and it will be the last trimmer you will ever buy”
My Neighbor recommended a Stihl trimmer when he heard me complaining about my old Trimmer “You need to get a Stihl and it will be the last trimmer you will ever buy”. After using the Stihl FS 70-R twice I realized how much time I have been wasting on maintenance, and it was a big waste of time and money. The starting system of this machine is the best I have ever used when compared to any other type or brand of lawn equipment.

    Plenty of power
Was tired of putting up with trimmers that lacked power, so I sprung for the low end pro model after using several Stihl pro saws. Was not let down. Plenty of power! Starts easy. Good handling. The only complaint is that when I overload the machine in thick brush, one of the two cords brake, and I have to shut it off to manually straighten out the string...but this is probably my fault, cutting brush, not grass! Even with this abuse, I'm still on my first spool of string. This unit is well above ... read more the needs of your average homeowner.

    Best trimmer I have owned
This trimmer is the easiest to start of the several I have owned over the years. This is the first Stihl trimmer I have owned, but I already own a chain saw and mini tiller made by Stihl. All of the products have been first class. For the first time, I have tried their pre mixed gas, oil, fuel stabilizer product to fuel it, and the difference in performance is phenomenal. The other great advantage is there is no strong burning oil smell usually associated with 2 stroke engines. The last one I ... read more bought was a 4 stroke made by a different company, and that was a huge mistake. It was hard to start, had little torque compared to this one, and it blew a head gasket early in the second year. I have learned my lesson, and will be sticking to Stihl products from here on out.

    Thoothpick Maker
This is a review for the FS311 which is the made in America version of the FS310 all you have to do is ask your dealer for the FS311 to get the one made in America which is what I did. The trimmer is everything and more I had to order mine which took a week but boy was it worth the wait. The trimmer starts with ease and has power to turn a 300mm brush cutter blade, it comes with a three point shoulder harness that really saves the back it is balanced great with little to know vibration, coming ... read more from a standard weed eater let me tell you you will need eye and a separate face protector as this thing throws stuff at nearly light speed and will do some damage to those tender areas of your body, long paints, boots, eye and face protection are a must because if its exposed it better be tough. Mean Little Machine
I love this trimmer. It sounds like a well tuned dirt bike and the power is really good. The trimmer weight and balance is absolutely perfect. Hopefully the last trimmer I will ever have to buy (as a homeowner), as it is replacing a 24 year old and a 2 year "other brand(s)". It is expensive, but like I said.........if it's the last trimmer I have to buy, it will be worth it.

    2 Mix Quality
I've carried this trimmer all over our 45 acre farm. With nearly three pounds less weight than the FS91, this trimmer causes a lot less fatigue at the end of a long day. The 2 mix engine works very well. The FS94 is one of very few Stihl 2 cycle trimmers. The 2 mix seems to have a stronger mid range than older 2 cycle designs, and it works very well at part throttle. Fuel consumption is reasonable. For those who need more power one of the bigger 4 mix trimmers may be better, but for clearing ... read more brush all day the FS94 is a great choice.

Great edger if you value reliability and longevity.
The FS 94R is a near perfect edger. It has adequate power, and has an impressive power to weight ratio. If you have large lawns or need to use it for long periods of time, the weight will be very comfortable. As typical from stihl, this trimmer starts with little effort. It is built to last a long time. The only criticism I have it that its features seem slightly out dated. It could use a new trimmer head that feeds faster and easier.

    Power When You Need It
Broke my old trimmer on some big brush so needed something beefier and dependable. Lots of power, sips the fuel, after it’s been running it starts on first pull. I recommend the full harness to take the weight off but if you have strong arms, the weight is not that much for quick jobs. The line holds up a long time and is really easy to replace too. Lots of head choices for any job. I have tons of hilly brush and this machine tamed it good! Use the Stihl oil for fuel and these engines last and ... read more last. This makes my fourth Stihl yard tool and all are very dependable. That’s why I made sure my next trimmer was a Stihl! Be carefull around delicate things. This trimmer has a lot of power.

Everything you could demand of a trimmer/brush cutter
I use this both on a 1/2 acre lot in the city and a 100+ acre hunting property here in NC. It excels at trimming grass around sidewalks with the string head as much as it does cutting down 3" diameter trees with the chisel tooth blade. As others have stated it's a lot of motor for a string trimmer head and you're often on off the throttle for urban grass trimming jobs. But for rural jobs, thick/tall grass, or spinning a chisel tooth saw blade cutting small trees with authority the extra power is ... read more not only welcome; it's necessary. I use this machine for both very light duty residential work and clearing ATV trails and thick rural brush. It excels at both and several of my friends have bought FS131s of their own after running mine.

    Best Trimmer I've Ever Owned
This is the best trimmer I have ever owned hands down. It starts up first pull every time I use it and is very reliable, never had a problem with it. I cannot find any kind of growth that will bog it down, it is unbelievably powerful. It is very ergonomic and despite having a large engine at 36.3 cc it is lighter and easier to handle than much less powerful trimmers I have owned in the past. I cannot recommend this product enough, if you're thinking about buying it just do it, you will be happy ... read more you did. Thank you Stihl for making such a quality trimmer.

    Finally a good trimmer
The absolute best trimmer I've purchased yet. I bought as an impulse buy ha ha $ almost... So happy I did. I can't stand the us made trimmer models. I was using a 130 and it drove me nuts with a deceleration problem. This bad boy never stops or skips a beat. Pull that throttle trigger and get to work! Doesn't eat twine excessively, but... It is heavier. A quality German built machine well worth the money. Don't forget to lock it up!

    Great Powerful Trimmer!
Ive used the 90 series and 110 for my lawn company for years but got the 240 cause it wasnt too much more and the 90 wasnt keeping up with how fast i wanted to walk while edging. The 240 gives me a deep edge at half throttle while i sprint backwards! I didnt realize how much difference and how much faster i can get a yard done with a more powerful trimmer till now. Im really amazed by this trimmer!

    Optimisim Fulfilled
Bought this to replace an older trimmer and because I wanted to use a chisel saw blade. The trimmer runs great, is powerful, easy to use, and handles well. I needed to adjust the strap mounting location (was not well balanced in the factory delivered location). The chisel saw is an awesome tool. Makes clearing small trees effortless. Stihl is everywhere, so service and parts are everywhere too if needed. I now own 2 Stihl chainsaws and a trimmer. Best tools I own.

    This thing is awesome!
Great tool. It is like having a lawn mower on the end of the shaft. The .095 line has troubles with woody stems 1/4" or larger. For normal weeds and grass, you will be impressed.
