    Best bang for buck.
I purchased this trimmer at my local dealer. And i am very impressed. I’ve used STIHL in the past at an old job which is why i chose STIHL. This trimmer is fairly priced and i changed out the head that it came with for the aluminum head and used thick string like really thick stuff that is used in those big weedeeders with the wheels. And it still has a lot of power and i can easily cut down thick weeds and since the string is so durable i can go forever. So i highly recommend this trimmer.

Plenty of power for thick weeds and high grass.
I replaced an FS 56 with the FS 70. It has noticeably more power and weighs the same. A deliberate bump of the head at 3/4 throttle advances the line perfectly every time. I've found the best engine performance is with the Motomix even compared to ethanol free pump gas with the Stihl HP oil. I'll run this machine for a couple hours straight only stopping to refuel. If you do long stretches of trimming, keep an extra spool handy to quickly replace the empty one. This is a great trimmer! It starts ... read more easy and runs great! It gets the tough jobs done with ease!

    Good power for yard maintenance
I use this trimmer for keeping a couple of homestead acres trimmed. It has plenty of power for my needs. With the auto-feed head, it's fairly easy to use. The only problem is that its rotation is reverse from my older, smaller Stihl curve-shaft trimmer, so that takes some getting used to so that the debris flies ahead of you and not back into your ankles and legs. Definitely wear eye protection because with the power, stuff flies at high speed when cutting. I don't mind paying the Stilh ... read more premium for the Stihl dependability.

This one has always had enough horsepower to get me through the job and it can handle that brush blade and other various attachments from stihl.

Wish I had bought it sooner
My last trimmer died finally after 10 years and I have a Stihl chainsaw I love so I figured I would get the trimmer from them. This thing is amazing. I can trim for 3 straight hours and not be fatigued. I have 2.5 acres i maintain and lots to trim around. The anti vibration is awesome. The power is more than enough. I love the strap to help take some of the weight. It starts in 2 pulls the when cold and only a single pull once you have warmed it up. I absolutely love Stihl products. I will keep ... read more buying other tools from them as my older stuff wears out. Thanks!!

Powerful, reliable and a great value
Purchased the FS 131 R to replace my old well used FS110. Was pleasantly surprised with the responsive nearly 2 Hp motor. Using a hedge trimmer attachment it will make quick time in clearing blackberry patches. Love the choke mechanism, makes for easy starts. Prefer this model over handlebar versions...seems like I have more control and the weight is fine. I'm 55 and believe with proper care this will be the last trimmer I'll ever need. Looking forward to using this beast. Extended run time is a plus.

    Beast mode weed eater
I bought the FS 311 to replace my FS 250 which had to be 15+ years old. The FS 311 has roughly equivalent power but weighs less and is easier to start. It will handle anything that gets in it's way...usually at half throttle. It will take down mature sage brush but the string won't last long doing that. Braided steel may be my next option.

    Best trimmer I have owned
This trimmer is the easiest to start of the several I have owned over the years. This is the first Stihl trimmer I have owned, but I already own a chain saw and mini tiller made by Stihl. All of the products have been first class. For the first time, I have tried their pre mixed gas, oil, fuel stabilizer product to fuel it, and the difference in performance is phenomenal. The other great advantage is there is no strong burning oil smell usually associated with 2 stroke engines. The last one I ... read more bought was a 4 stroke made by a different company, and that was a huge mistake. It was hard to start, had little torque compared to this one, and it blew a head gasket early in the second year. I have learned my lesson, and will be sticking to Stihl products from here on out.

Gets the job done, back saver
I just got this one, I have a 130 as well. The 130 is used for a short pole saw and hedge trimmer, the 131 is used as a trimmer. I got this one as it has handles and a harness and that is a real back saver. I can use it for hours with out any back pain. It has enough power to get the job done without being too heavy. I use the string trimmer, the grass blade and the brush blade with it.

    Excellent product
This was my first Stihl purchase and it will probably not be my last. The FS131 has plenty of power to cut through the brush and tall grass around my place. It was a bit tricky getting the start procedure down, but after a few times, I got the hang of it. It is very easy to handle. I got this model because it came with the double shoulder harness; definitely a plus. It seems to be easy on fuel. I was trimming down the edge of my property and it kept going. I was done before it needed fuel.

    The new harness rocks.
I used an older version of the FS 131 for more than 40 hours in August 2017. It was equipped with a shoulder strap. It was a great machine but the strap setup of the version I was using was pretty terrible (I had had a right hip replacement in June of the same year). I just bought my own FS 131 today at my local Ace Hardware (better hours than the dedicated Stihl dealers in my area—and much closer to home). I have to say that the new harness device that comes with the current version is great. ... read more Maybe even worth the price of admission regardless of the machine’s performance. In any case, hats off to the ergonomics engineers at Stihl.

    Great machine for COMMERCIAL use
As far as I know this is the most powerful trimmer Stihl offers. I do 50-55 lawns a day and this thing will not quit. It is designed for daily, repeated use. I saw someone say they bought this for their home. That is not what this machine is made for. It also requires top end gas with low ethanol and premium synthetic oil, and the gas shouldn’t exceed 30 days old. If you bought this machine for your residential home and are complaining you should have bought a 70 and not a 240. Love ... read more Stihl, very costly but well worth it.

    This product is a beast.
This is about one of the best trimmer that they make i would never by any other trimmer. i love it i have never had a problem with it, when you get out there you can cut down about any thing from grass to trees, if you looking for a trimmer and your landscaper you need to look into the fs-240

    Great trimmer
this trimmer is a very nice trimmer. Very well built , great quality and very comfortable to operate. Lots of power. Worth every penny. But it's not the Stihl fs 250 R. The 250 was a true power house. This 240 is close but not the 250. The 240 is lacking the top end of what the 250 R had. Stihl replaced the 250 R with this 240 R. Overall all its meant to last and is very powerful and you can't go wrong buying this 240 R. Btw it is made in Germany . Great German quality .

    Great buy!
Most of my trimming is around the house and I know that I didn't need to get a pro version Stihl. But,, for the price difference between a regular home unit and this pro unit,, I couldn't pass it up. I also will need it and have already used it once at the hunt camp. Lots of tall weeds all over,, and this trimmer just ate it up. Love the easy start and it starts after two pulls. So far its been great! I was also impressed how well and easy it fed line out.

    2 Mix Quality
I've carried this trimmer all over our 45 acre farm. With nearly three pounds less weight than the FS91, this trimmer causes a lot less fatigue at the end of a long day. The 2 mix engine works very well. The FS94 is one of very few Stihl 2 cycle trimmers. The 2 mix seems to have a stronger mid range than older 2 cycle designs, and it works very well at part throttle. Fuel consumption is reasonable. For those who need more power one of the bigger 4 mix trimmers may be better, but for clearing ... read more brush all day the FS94 is a great choice.

I replaces a Homelite that was 12 years old this FS 94R much nicer and so far starts and idles great unlike the Homelite towards it's end
The day after I brought the FS 94R home I ran a full tank of fuel through the unit with out any problem. My neighbor had not edged his yard for several months so it was heavy and tall. He ran a second tank of fuel through the FS 94R and said he loved it, It worked great. I then filled the tank again and ran it through another half tank of full. A week later pulled it out again, primed the unit and put the cord three times, started right up and I cut for about an hour with out a problem, It ... read more works great. I wish I had purchased it sooner.
