“You need to get a Stihl and it will be the last trimmer you will ever buy”
My Neighbor recommended a Stihl trimmer when he heard me complaining about my old Trimmer “You need to get a Stihl and it will be the last trimmer you will ever buy”. After using the Stihl FS 70-R twice I realized how much time I have been wasting on maintenance, and it was a big waste of time and money. The starting system of this machine is the best I have ever used when compared to any other type or brand of lawn equipment.

    Great for the weekend jobs.
I have had much experience with the FS 90. It is a powerhouse compared to the FS 70. Don't get me wrong, the FS 70 is a work horse and gets the job done for a homeowner, but it tends to bog down. Maybe I just need to give it more time to break in. I have not tried cutting big brush with it but it does great for edging and trimming around obstacles. I think it would do fine with the larger gauge string or one of the cutting attachments, it was just not the FS 90 I was used to using.

    Most excellent large yard trimmer
As Doug Marcaida would say on "Forged in Fire", this trimmer will ST-I-I-I-H-L (pron: Steeeeel)!!!! It is a beast against the thickest of weeds. It starts very easy and completes my 3 acres on one and of gas. I even took down the large weeds in an overgrown garden. With the shoulder harness, the trimmer is very light and easy to maneuver in any direction. I liked that the trimmer came with safety glasses and wear plugs.

    Poor line strength
I would rate this piece of equipment good for light yard work. The line breaks easy and I wind the line in the wire head as directed and the line frequently breaks and get stuck inside so I have to stop and undue everything to pull the head off and thread the line through the head. Great engine though.

    Great product great features
I've had mine for a while now several tanks of gas have been through it. I wouldn't take twice what I paid for this machine it does more than I ever expected. It can be hard on line but stihl has a new line out that seems to do extremely better than the original plane orange line I had been using. You have to be careful not to get to close to underpinnings on houses and have to pay close attention to what you are doing if your not it's like a skill saw going thru it I found out that the hard ... read more way. But once you get use to the power and cutting width you can't beat it.

    Amazing Trimmer
I live at a high elevation and was concerned with it having the power to work for me. I have been very impressed. Runs strong and starts easy. I wanted a trimmer I was not going to have to spend a lot of time working on, but using it to trim with. This ones does the job.

    Great Brushcutter!
So I purchased this for a new property in foreclosure, lots and lots of brush to clear, and blackberry bushes. The 1's are the new models of the 0's, meaning 91 is the new 90 so on so forth. I was considering the 91, 111, 131. I went with the 91 because wanted to buy a chainsaw too. SO happy with the 91! no shortage of power. All I have done is attach the 4 edge blade on it and it cuts right thru all the brush and bushes.

    Very good product.
This trimmer is the best you purchase for your money. It is professional grade, so if you buy it for your personal yard use it is the last one you will ever have to buy. It zips right on through tall grass and weeds with ease. I bought it because I got tired of the home depot grade and i wanted something that will last for long time and I have no doubt that it will. It starts up with no problems and once it warms up its ready to get the job done. I am very pleased with this investment and the ... read more price wasn't to high. I recommend this particular weed trimmer if you need something for your home use and you want it to last,

    Quit whining!
Yes its heavy. It's an heavy duty trimmer this thing is a beast! If you're whining about the it being heavy use the FS94r. The FS240 is for the big stuff not for going around mamas tulips. It would be the same thing as driving a Corvette throw golf cart trail. If your just doing your home it's not for you to big the FS94r is what you need. The FS94r and FS240r are two stroke they have better throttle control " low rpm working speed" Stihl 100% the way to go just get the right tool for your needs.

    An Excilent Trimmer
I bought my 240R two months ago to replace my FS85T. This thing is a beast it doesn't stop when I have thick tall grass to cut through. The head holds a decent amount of string and the fuel economy is impressive for a trimmer of this size. The only con I can think of is weight of the trimmer. It does weigh 15lbs but they did provide a strap which helps some when walking across a large yard from tree to tree. Over all a great buy and I look forward to getting another.

    Perfect heavy grass trimmer
I've had my 240R for 3 years now and it's never failed to start and it's lasted and did it's job excellent. I've used it weekly and sometimes more every mowing season. It does get a little heavy after a little while using it but I'll deal with the weight to get the power. The only thing I have done to this thing is gut and dual port the muffler like I do on everything. Gives it 2x the cutting power.

Powerful, fast and easy to start
I also upgraded this with a steel head that allows me to insert two 21" strips of line rather than spooling line. Those two strips bend in half to make four cutting strings. I can do 80%-100% of the yard on those two lines. They don't break off they cut ferociously and I get to spend my time getting the job done instead of changing line. I am 54 years old and this is hands down the best trimmer setup I have ever used in my life.

    Light weight and powerful.
I have had it for a month now and I use it commercially. It works smoothly and starts on the first pull. The light weight of the trimmer helps battle fatigue on large areas that require trimming.

    Best out there
My friend let me borrow his after telling him I would never spend that much on a weed eater. After using his, I went and bought my own. It's worth every penny. I have the brush blade as well. This has saved me countless hours on working on cheap machines. It's easy to run and use. Keep it maintained and there won't be any issues.

Gets the job done, back saver
I just got this one, I have a 130 as well. The 130 is used for a short pole saw and hedge trimmer, the 131 is used as a trimmer. I got this one as it has handles and a harness and that is a real back saver. I can use it for hours with out any back pain. It has enough power to get the job done without being too heavy. I use the string trimmer, the grass blade and the brush blade with it.

    Best power to weight ratio.period.
Torque isn't awesome, but i run a large line diameter, always.extremely light for nearly 2hp. If you're considering a handlebar trimmer, this is it.
