Just what I was looking for. I have a stihl blower vac and wanted the same reliability in a string trimmer.
Still in the break in period so only running at partial power. Even then, it has what is needed to get my trimming work done including that professional manicured look along the concrete edges (sidewalks and driveways). I read other online reviews and string advancement seemed to be an issue with some who posted comments and reviews. I have not had any problems at all with this product since purchase. Some PROS-----Some CONS
It does start easy...most of the time. It doesn't start well when it is hot even at no choke or half choke. Maybe it's a learning curve. It is a little cumbersome but I can get use to it. The biggest NEGATIVE is that it will not advance line properly. It either does nothing or it sends out 2 feet. Last use I had to either fix tangled line or put on new line 6 times. I really would like to have a trimmer that advances the line automatically,

A lot of power and value for a "homeowner" trimmer
I have owned this trimmer for three years now and have no buyers remorse. The clutched trimmer head is nice around flower beds, but can cut through really thick over growth. The straight shaft is nice for hard to reach areas. Low fuel and trimmer string consumption per operation, 6 gallons of fuel and still have original trimmer string in the head from when I bought it. The biggest surprise for me was the low noise level of the engine for the people around you, very nice for morning or evening ... read more workouts. I have owned two trimmers in the past and I feel this trimmer is everything Stihl advertises.

    Great string trimmer.
I have used Stihl chainsaws for years and this string trimmer is everything I expect from a Stihl product. The trimmer starts on the first or second pull and warms up quickly. The power the engine produces is very good and more than adequate for trimming tall tough Timothy grass. I chose this model because the curved shaft is longer than the FS 40 which makes it more comfortable for a taller person like me to use.

    runs like a dream
Why I didn't buy this earlier I don't know. Stihl starts up very easy, two pulls and it fires right up no bogging with a lot of power. It is not very heavy, it has a tall shaft which helps me from having to bend over I'm (6'1"). A lot of people wonder about cost, it may seem high but the quality justifies the cost it is worth every penny.

This is made for a taller man
I bought the FS50ce kind of by accident. I did not realize in the store this was the trimmer for taller men. I am 6'1'' and used to have a FS46 until ethanol gas wrecked it and I gave it to a friend. I went to the store just for a FS38. The store was sold out. I am glad they were out of stock. I am very happy with the extra 8 inches. I am also really happy with the easy2start and the choke system. Very good fuel economy as well. So far I have only run Stihl Moto mix in this trimmer. I have used ... read more it about 10 times now and my back is happy.

    Solid yard tool!
I've gone to the extent to replace all of the power yard tools with top of the line equipment. Simple logic is that I've spent too much time and money with the big box equip. Stepped up and bought the best equipment so that when I start a project it get done. I should be the one quitting before my equipment does.

    Excellent trimmer
I am very pleased with this trimmer, can't beat the price on this trimmer with the bicycle handle. In the past had to buy the professional series trimmer to get the bicycle handle. It works better than my old FS85T does. Highly recommend.

Great for a rural community home
This trimmer is great for trimming and edging around your home, fence line, and landscaping. It is not powerful enough for brush, but great for everything else. The easy start pull cord has it running in no more than three pulls. The trimmer is light enough to use without a strap, but it comes with one anyway. Definitely recommended!!

    starts great
the string does not hold up at all. This is the stihl string. I put a different brand into it and it did do better. Next I may go up in string size and see if that takes care of the problem. I have 2 of these and the green Stihl string is useless because it breaks too easy.Other than that the trimmer starts and runs better than most trimmers I have used. If the string would not break so easy it would be 5 star and fantastic..............Joe

    Easy to Start
I have used this trimmer only twice thus far. The second time I used it, I used old fuel (really old) and it started on the first pull anyway. It was perfect except for one thing...the lines both broke next to the hub and I had to take the spool apart to rethread it. I am giving 5 stars anyway, because the line break may have been my fault somehow.

    Great trimmer
Bought this trimmer to replace my 10 y/o trimmer that broke down. Started after two pulls, ran it for three hours through three feet thick grass and weeds. Did not bog out at all; did not stall. Refueled and started right back up. I am 5'5" and this trimmer is the perfect size for me. I think my 6'5' husband would have a difficult time using because of the curved and shorter shaft. I love this trimmer already. I also have Stihl's blower that I've used for the past two years and have never had to ... read more pull more than three times to start.
