I retired my FS 80 yesterday after 18 years and a bazillion hours with ZERO PROBLEMS. Picked up this 56 and was extremely impressed this morning. Having moved back to the city, the 80 was overkill and still running strong. Turns out the 56 is overkill, too. Love the lack of weight. Love the immediate start. Line advance is flawless. Not impressed with their line durability but I have a big roll of great line on hand. I've bought six Stihl products since 1993. None have ever been in the shop and ... read more all still run great.

    FS56R CE Trimmer
I had recently bough the FS56 with the loop handle. I like it a whole lot. Very lightweight and easy to maneuver when trimming. When i had purchased the trimmer it was an immediate 2 year warranty. I was then offered choice of fuel options which then extended another 2 years onto the warranty. Thats a total of 4 years just for buying a 50:1 6 pack of oil mix!!! The price was a bit high but i am happy with this purchase.

The Stihl FS 56RC is powerful
I just bought the Stihl FS 56RC and I took it home and tried it. I was amazed at the sheer power that this weed trimmer has! You have plenty of power in reserve to tackle some tough weeds and brush! I love the ergonomic design and craftsmanship that went into this! The fact that you can gently tap the line feed on the ground and have more line come out is a plus also! I would highly recommend this for any home owner that is looking for power and performance!

    Great ditch weed whip!
I have owned several different weed whips, this is my favorite so far! This unit starts on the 2nd pull every time , starting it is a breeze. I bought this model because of the extended shaft , I'm 6'1" and it works well. I let my dad borrow this trimmer once and the next weekend he bought one too! I also use the the Stihl premix premium fuel sold in the 32 oz tin can. When the trimmer runs on this fuel, there no smoke, and very little Odor. Ive had this trimmer for 2 seasons now , I've also ... read more added a Stihl leaf blower and chain saw to my lineup . Stihl products are dependable , easy to use, easy to maintain , and priced fair.

This is made for a taller man
I bought the FS50ce kind of by accident. I did not realize in the store this was the trimmer for taller men. I am 6'1'' and used to have a FS46 until ethanol gas wrecked it and I gave it to a friend. I went to the store just for a FS38. The store was sold out. I am glad they were out of stock. I am very happy with the extra 8 inches. I am also really happy with the easy2start and the choke system. Very good fuel economy as well. So far I have only run Stihl Moto mix in this trimmer. I have used ... read more it about 10 times now and my back is happy.

    Typical Stihl Quality
Owning a few Stihl products I know what to expect from them and this FS50 has not dissapointed whatsoever. The extra shaft length works much better for someone that is over 6ft tall as compared to the FS40. The power of the 50 is perfect for any homeowner and will cut through just about anything with ease! Knowing how to start the machine properly and using the correct 50:1 premix will net you excellent long term reliable results!!! Go Stihl or go home!!!

    Thanks, Stihl!
I learned that if you buy this Stihl trimmer, you will not be sorry. I had a problem with my trimmer and the company went beyond my expectations to make things right. Somebody from Stihl personally reached out to me and could not have been kinder or more courteous. What a nice, unexpected gesture that I can't imagine many companies duplicating. As somebody who has been doing lawn care for 40 years, this trimmer is easy to handle and the easy start is nice so you won't dislocate your shoulder starting it.

works hard, starts easy , dependable.
Bought this trimmer several years ago. Have a 3/4 acre property that I keep free of weeds,so this machine gets a work out. I generally run it until its out of gas and usually have little problem starting it while its hot. I some times put in a heaver line than recommended to cut around rocks and cement.I have many power tools and I don't want to collect any more so I like the idea of optional attachments. Good product in the right hands.

    Great trimmer, except..
I have always had battery operated trimmers in the past because it seemed all gas trimmers were difficult to start. After a demonstration of this trimmer I was sold. Very easy to start. However, I am having a problem with the "tap & go" feature, and it appears I am not the only one. Right from the get go it did not work. I had to take the head apart and manually re-thread the line. This happened every time I had to add line. When opening the head I found that the line had crisscrossed itself ... read more and I had to straighten it out. What can do to stop this from happening?

    Great for a home owner
This is a great piece of equipment for a home owner. I would highly recommend it to do just about everything. Sometimes it is a bit hard to get started for the first time after it has run for a few second it keeps running and restarts easily the next time

My wife is a pioneering woman.
She wanted the EasyStart and the bicycle handles for control. She started at the house with the string head, but getting closer to the woods, some brush was more durable. She switched to the star blade brush knife and took down another acre of heavy, more woody brush. Then she ran into actual trees. So she put on the chisel tooth circular saw blade, and at that RPM it takes out a 2 inch tree in less than a second, and close to the ground. Wow, I really like this machine.

    Solid yard tool!
I've gone to the extent to replace all of the power yard tools with top of the line equipment. Simple logic is that I've spent too much time and money with the big box equip. Stepped up and bought the best equipment so that when I start a project it get done. I should be the one quitting before my equipment does.
