Simply-Put ! This is Stihl the "BEST" trimmer I have ever owned...
Works better than any other trimmer I have ever owned. The engine has a very-high rate of speed and, is very easy to start once you learn how the choke system is set-up to function. The "Dealer" was Truthful about the quality of this trimmer. The care and maintenance of this trimmer is simple if one takes the (time) to read and follow the care instructions /manual. Trimmer line is easier - maintained if running at full speed when being tapped for line extension. At a lower speed the line will ... read more not release properly and can become a problem for the Trimmer to function properly. Most people do not seem to realize this fact and, blame it on the trimmer its-self. all lines will eventually break, some sooner than others depending on the type of Terrain being used on but! there are ways to help extend the life of any trimmers line.

    Great product!
Great weed eater light weight runs good, plenty of power.I have 15 acres of pasture to weed eat and have had no issues at all with this thing. I use .105 line, I have never had issues with a stihl trimmer feeding line ever. If you use a string that is large enough for the job you are doing you won't have breakage issues. And common sense will take care of most of the issues I have read in a lot of these reviews.

    What an Amazing product
I bought this Trimmer at the beginning of last season for my lawn care business. I used to Trim with a low grade electric trimmer, the Fs-70 was such an upgrade! For the Whole season the trimmer remained extremely reliable so I could depend on it every week to get my jobs done. The Trimmer has Ample power for trimming around obstacles, edging beds and concrete, and even chopping down tall thick grass in a garden. This trimmer is more than equipped for commercial lawn care work, and will remain ... read more in my fleet for years to come. There is also a sense of comfort knowing my local John Deere dealership can service it if anything ever goes wrong (which I doubt it will). What an excellent piece of equipment I will always purchase Stihl Products.

    The best!
I don’t use my Stihl Trimmer heavily, but my yard is bordered by forest and does require a fair bit of tending. I wanted to know that when I needed a trimmer, I had the best! I have not been disappointed. From initial sales to support, through to product quality, power, and dependability, my Stihl trimmer has been a terrific investment. When I do call upon it, it starts with one pull and slays any weeds and unwanted growth I throw at it.

Lots of power. Not as easy to use.
Plenty of power and torque. The trimmer has sufficient torque to bury the head in the ground if you try. The throttle is difficult to modulate - it is more like an on/off switch. Unless you are going through really heavy stuff, you do NOT need full throttle. I end up feathering the throttle as I go. The trimmer spins the opposite direction as my old one (clockwise, when viewed from below). This means that when I hold the trimmer to my right and trim with the left side of the head, it flings ... read more debris back in my face. If I try to trim with the right side of the head, the guard blocks my view. The trimmer is very heavy, as would be expected with a solid-shaft trimmer with a large engine and fuel load.

    This product has excellent power.
Bought one of these about 2 months ago. It is starting to get through the break in period. Let me say I have an area of grass that normally takes about 30 minutes to cut. But with this product I can now do this area in about 20 minutes and there is a ditch I have to trim in this same area as well. The grass is starting to thicken up and this product is cutting even better. Excellent product, it fits nicely with my team of FS 55 R and FS 94 R.

Great Flexibility and Power for tough terrain
I have owned this FS 560 CEM for 5 months. I bought this piece of equipment to help clear some overgrown fields & underbrush on forest/hunting land and it has not disappointed. The best thing about it is you can take it anywhere in the back of your SUV without having to have a trailer to pull or buy a walk behind brush cutter. The saw blade easily cuts through small saplings and 2 to 3" trees with an easy swing. And, the brush cutter attachment slices through any briar patch and takes care of ... read more small saplings. The gas tank is also surprisingly large allowing you to run it for much longer than a normal trimmer. Most importantly though, the shoulder harness distributes the weight very evenly reducing you from getting too tired. I will be using this for selective thinning of gum & other undesireable trees on my forest/hunting land (101 acres). I highly recommend this if you need something to help you clear on rougher land.

    Stihl fa 560
Purchased to clear off land full of wild rose bushes and out of control trumpet vines. Wow. It put a hurt on them. Easy to use. But not for weak people. It will give you a work out. Has great power. Make sure you wear helmet, glasses, gloves for safety. I should do a video for stihl.

    King of the Jungle!!!
I recently purchased this brushcutter and it is a Beast!! The features are excellent. The harness makes it feel like it only weighs 5lbs and allows you to work more efficiently. The start-up process is awesome. It starts on the the first pull easy. I was able to clear an area in hour versus the normal 5 to 8 hour job depending on my help. Overall, this machine make me like a child playing with toys.

    Great Brush Cutter
It’s expensive but if your looking for a great hard core brush cutter I would recommend the 360. I brush cut my farm pond once a year but was unable last year so there’s a lot of extra growth. My Kombi 131 with brush knife just would not cut through it. The 360 work perfect! Anything 3 inches or less was not problem. Doesn’t bog down or struggle to cut through the thickest brush. Very Pleased.

PRODUCT USE: FS 300-400-500-series Brushcutters/Clearing Saws
I am placing this Product Use here to assist Stihl consumers in better understanding the configuration & application of these FS 300-400-500-series units. My comments are also intended to prompt StihlUSA to market all three units offered in this series configured SEPARATELY as Brushcutters and Clearing Saws. Currently, all three units sold in this series are only available configured as Clearing Saws. This costs consumers an additional 20% more to configure their unit as a Brushcutter. For those ... read more of you who find my above comments confusing, go to the stihl.com international website & view all of the available configurations. Brushcutters are outfitted with one of several available cutting head attachments, a deflector kit, & a sine wave style handlebar assembly. The purpose of the upward sine wave on the left handlebar is to provide clearance with the left leg of the operator when cutting on a right-to-left sweep. An optional deflector may have to be purchased depending upon your choice of available cutting head attachments. Clearing Saws are outfitted with one of a few available sawing blades, a limit stop kit, & a straight style handlebar assembly. Clear cutting, generally, does not require a sweeping motion, hence the straight style handlebar assembly. This straight style handlebar is clumsy if used with Brushcutter cutting head attachments. The limit stop is designed for use with saw blades ONLY! The term "limit stop" is confusing, but it is basically a deflector with an anti-kickback feature. The FS 400-series is offered in Short (K), Standard, & Long (L) shaft models. The Short (K) shaft model is ideal for shorter operators or when cutting on steeper terrain where the distance to ground is shorter. NOTE: For safe operation, cutting should always be performed in an uphill direction! The Long (L) shaft model is ideal for taller operators or for cutting full branched brush & trees where you must extend in to the trunk. The Short (K) & Long (L) shaft models are approximately 4", shorter or longer, than the Standard shaft model length. Currently, ONLY the Standard shaft model is available in the U.S. The (K) & (L) models are available in Canada. Brushcutters & Clearing Saws should NOT be viewed as merely "heavy-duty weedeaters". They are powerful, highly-capable machinery designed for the purpose of operating where mowers or wheeled & tracked machinery cannot operate due to forestation, vegetation, obstacles, or terrain. They are the only option you have in difficult environs short of sheep, goats, or herbicides! Potential operators should develop their skills prior to taking on the most demanding jobs, while paying particular attention to SAFETY for themselves & bystanders. Brushcutter-configured units are designed to cut sapling trees, brush, vines, weeds, &/or heavy grasses. In ascending order, cutting head attachments are: nylon line; poly head; grass blades; & brush knives. These units are extremely versatile with wide-ranging applications that include, but are not limited to: forest floors; ladder-fuels control; wildfire crews; steep terrain; rocky areas; wildland trails; difficult sites; inaccessible areas; fire suppression zones; lands management; noxious weed control; structure perimeters; fence lines; crop lines; drainage swales; waterfronts; parks; cemeteries; farms; ranches; estates; businesses; homeowners; property lines; security zones; professional landscapers...and MORE! Clearing Saw-configured units are more specific in application than their Brushcutter counterparts. They are designed to cut small trees above sapling size, cut larger-diameter brush, thin multiple-trunk clusters, remove low branches, perform forest thinning, harvest cane, harvest Christmas trees, & perform some overlap with Brushcutters. They are used by forest managers, tree farms, & nurseries in addition to some of the professionals listed above with Brushcutters. Clearing Saw blades must be kept away from ground contact to avoid damaging the blade teeth. Operators are cautioned that hazards exist from flying projectiles during use. The wearing of a helmet w/ face shield, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, protective-toe boots, & long clothing are recommended. These products are available in the Stihl line. StihlUSA claims that some of the products in the full line are not available in the U.S. due to lack of sales or demand. It is up to YOU to communicate directly with them to express your desires to expand the line. Just telling your local dealer, although helpful, is not enough!

    Excellent!!!
I have used many trimmers over the last 15 years. I have found that Stihl's have always been the most reliable. This trimmer is fantastic! Light weight, great power, and completely dependable. The easy start is the way to go!. One half pull and the trimmer is at full speed ready to go! Best trimmer I have ever used! I recommended this trimmer to my friend who bought it the next wk. He said the same review to me as well.

Good product that takes time to learn how to use
Replaced an old competitive brand...my experience is don't expect to become proficient with the trimmer right away. It has great power, easy to maneuver and starts with 2 pulls...but then it is brand new...cuts grass and weeds like a maniac. Experienced some of the same initial line issues mentioned by other reviewers...lost the leads several times in the first minutes of operation...literally ate the line and emptied the spool in the first 30 minutes of run time. But then I noticed the head ... read more rotated in opposite direction from my old trimmer...coupled with watching a "professional" landscaper using his trimmer and with a little time I'm happy with performance. I'm no chemist but the recommendation of keeping the line in water seems a little bogus...the one dislike I have is the trimmer head guard is woefully insufficient...the trimmer throws material all over the place so make sure you protect your feet & legs as well as your eyes & face. Not a fan of the operator's manual...seems to have more cautions and warning than it does operating instructions.

    I'd say it's a good product
I bought a Still FS 55 trimmer in 1999 and am still using it. I have replaced the carburetor once and the gas line and filter a couple of times.. That thing just refuses to die!! I use it to trim some pretty rough stuff (not all of it is rough, but a lot is), and a lot of it. I do need the gas line replaced now, but other than that, it runs like a top! I don't think any other brand of trimmer could touch it. THANKS Stihl, for a real quality product!!!

A Message from the Concept Designer
With thousands of hours logged in operation of Stihl FS-series Brushcutters, I found the first & second generation Harnesses lacking in durability, particularly where the Brushcutter attaches to the Harness. The Clip was prone to premature failure. Comfort suffered because no pivot provision was provided for at the backstrap. This resulted in a condition where one shoulder bore the brunt of weight of the Brushcutter resulting in operator fatigue. I took it upon my own to contact StihlUSA Product ... read more Development and presented them with a concept design of what a truly great harness should be. My concept was then submitted to the product engineering folks who developed the end product you are available to purchase in 2019 for the first time. This is the culmination of a nearly decade-long process. No single harness will be perfect for every end-user, but this one is intended for the larger FS-series units being used in the most arduous conditions for hours upon end. I am not a Stihl employee or contractor. I am just another consumer, just like you, who wants a quality product that will get the job done. My thanks go out to former-StihlUSA employee Sebastian S., corporate HQ in Waiblingen, Germany, & the product vendor in Sri Lanka. This company listens to it's consumers!!!

The ABSOLUTE ULTIMATE in Brushcutter Harnesses!
I purchased the Advance X-Treem Harness upon the recommendation of my Stihl Dealer. I have ALL of the other Stihl Harnesses and can say this one is by far the CADILLAC of the Stihl line of harnesses! The adjustments you can make alone are worth EVERY penny you spend. This harness is made for the working man that uses a brushcutter for long periods of time. After a day of use, you don't have the sore spots on your shoulder/ upper back area as the weight of the brushcutter can be adjusted to your ... read more preference. Guys/Gals....THIS is the REAL DEAL if you use a brushcutter! Thank you to STIHL for designing a harness that is TRULY meant for the comfort of the operator. WELL DONE!

    99.9% Great harness
Very comfortable and maneuverable. The flap pad slides on its sling strap so you can easily reach out or pull back with the trimmer. That makes it great for hillsides. The only place this harness misses the mark on is the tool clip height adjustment. Stock, it requires removing it and fiddling with the strap and hoping you get it right. I fixed this by attaching a simple buckle from a 1” tie down strap to the breast plate with some zip ties. Now with the push of a button and tug of the strap I ... read more can adjust the hook height on the fly.
