Image of wrapchap
For advanced cutters, these wrap-around chaps provide full lower-leg cutting protection.

Product Description

Based on the convenience and comfort of our apron-style chaps, these orange Wrap Chaps extend fully around the lower leg to provide six or nine layers of Avertic™ Pro by Engtex® cut-retardant material. Just snap them up and adjust the waist to your ideal fit. They’re a great choice for those who have demanding cutting jobs. STIHL chainsaw protective apparel is also wash and wear, unlike some other brands that require dry cleaning or light surface cleaning. These chaps feature a reflective waistband for better visibility, a zipper cargo pocket for easy storage, and an abrasive knee for bending and kneeling.

The Pro Mark™ Protective Apparel is best paired with Professional STIHL units. This line of personal protective apparel is designed for professional users, helping protect against injuries they may face during frequent use.

NOTE: Chaps are measured by overall length from the waist down. STIHL chaps have a tough outer shell of oil/water-resistant nylon, treated with rain/stain repellent.

Important Information

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!
These protective garments contain pads of cut-retardant material designed to reduce the risk or severity of injury to the body parts covered by the pads in the event of contact with a rotating chain. The fibers in the pads provide extra layers of material and are designed to rip apart if they come into contact with the moving chain and to clog the sprocket and stop the chain in certain circumstances. In some contacts, the pads may stop the chain. In other contacts, the pads will resist the cutting process only for a fraction of a second. The actual degree of protection afforded will vary with the speed of the chain at the time of contact, the power and torque of the saw, the design of the chainsaw sprocket and similar factors. Follow the washing instructions. Improper care may destroy cut-retardant properties of the material.

WARNING FOR ELECTRIC CHAINSAW USERS!
The fibers will not stop the sprocket on most electric chainsaws because of their constant high torque.

WARNING FOR CORDED ELECTRIC AND BATTERY CHAINSAW USERS! The fibers may not stop the sprocket on most corded electric chainsaws and some battery-powered chainsaws because of the constant high torque. However, to reduce the severity of injury from accidental contact with the chain, STIHL recommends that leg protection be worn when operating these types of chainsaws.

Important Information All STIHL chainsaw protective apparel meets or exceeds OSHA Regulation 1910.266 for Personal Protective Equipment for chainsaw operators.

NOTE: Chaps are measured by overall length from the waist down. All chaps have a tough outer shell of oil/water-resistant nylon treated with rain/stain repellent.

WARNING! Improper use of any power tool may cause serious or fatal injury. Read, understand and follow carefully the operating and safety instructions in your instruction manual before using such products.

Reviews

Pro Mark™ Wrap Chaps - 9 Layer is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great protection; feel cheap Chaps have good layers but feel cheap. The webbing and buckles are thin and clunky. I like the buckle placements (3 at bottom, one around the thigh, and the belt buckle). I wish they had pads in the knees and am afraid they will wear though; the outer material feels cheap. They are hot to wear, and while i thought the 6 layer would be less not, i don't think it is by much. I found the 6 layer in store, put them on, and immediately felt the insulation of the chaps. Due to this, I have worn light clothing underneath b/c I am covered in PPE. It would be nice if there were some way to breath more between your legs and chaps (spacer?). After running the saw, you don't notice the chaps. Awkward to walk in but not bad. Chaps are definitely heavy. No dealer carried these so had to special order. They only come in a 36" length, which is perfect for a 30-32" men's pant length. Price in 8/18 was $134.99, very reasonable, considering an ER visit copay can be $200. Belt is adjustable and only goes to a ~42" pant size; if you are worried, get the extension for ~$15 (must special order).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great protective gear I bought these pants when I upgraded my chainsaw. They fit well and are easy to put on. The bright color helps others clearly see where you are. They can get a little warm, but I will take that for the protection they offer. I have not tested the effectiveness of the cut protection (and I hope never to test it), but I am glad to know it is there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extra Protection for when ya need it I selected the Pro Mark full wrap chaps for the extra coverage and the extra layers they have built into them. I don’t see a slightly limiting garment as a drawback when you consider the protection they afford to the user when that day comes where the running bar bites you. Having the extra layers seems like a good idea with running the bigger power pro saws and why not while running the smaller stuff too. It’s become uncomfortable to drive without a belt on and it’s now the same way with my chainsaw equipment on. Just no good reason not to when you consider what can happen with a moments innattention.I reached for the full coverage based on the reviews here with stopping big saws, I would encourage anybody to do the same regardless of the size equipment your running. Get the best protection you can, you will never be sorry for the decision, especially if you need it one day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spend the extra for the protection Running 661-R, 362, 210 and 171. Use the chaos with all as I saw my brothers leg scar from the kick back he had. Ain't good to not wear even though the extra weight is aggravating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They will stop the ms660 magnum I was cutting out of a pile and fell with my saw running wide open they stopped it dead I was really impressed and everyone that was there.... 4 guys..... Went out and got some same day I won't run my saw without them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best chaps I've owned I've worn these chaps for 6 years, logging weekends in winter and sawing 12 cord of firewood during the summer each year. These chaps have held up better than any chap I've owned. The benefit of the lower leg wrap is evident in winter. It doubles as a safety and to help keep snow out of my boots. They are light and comfortable. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to buy quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Could have been bad.... I was cutting some scrub brush at a friends place and my saw kicked back into my thigh. My saw stopped almost immediately. I took my chaps off to assess the damage, chaps worked exactly as they were supposed to. I had a line of bar oil on my jeans, but did not cut them.It took 45 mins to clean out my saw, and will need a new set of chaps....but WAY better than the alternative!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great PPE to have when cutting lumber Product protects your legs from any kick back that may occur. If you do cut the chaps the saw stops immediately before it goes too far, (at least on gas powered equipment). Great product!
