HT 103 is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to start and use. Nothing but a Stihl for me. Used my new ht 103 pole saw as soon as I got home from the dealer. Plenty of power and starts every time. Made fast work of the low hanging limbs around my property.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stihl is great The pole pruner is great and does everything, but the chain is not so durable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Huge Leap Backwards Where I work pole pruners are a way of life. Theyre used every day and not in a light way. Our crew recently received 1 new HT 103 and it falls short of the HT 101s and 131s in almost every way possible. To start with, the new extension pole seems to bend far easier then that of the HT101 series. Then, if the pole is just ever so slightly bent the shape of the new extension pole makes it nearly impossible to extend. The twist lock for the extension pole gets jammed very easily. The chain tensioner jams. ive never had an HT101 tensioner jam even once. The vibration from the drive shaft are very noticeable compared to the HT101. The noise from the driveshaft spinning is nearly as loud as the engine from day one. In general there are some nice things about the saw. Its lighter, it feels like its got nice power behind it. The pole does stay in place better because of the new shape. However, 3 of our landscape crews agree the negitives far out way the positives. No one even wants to use their HT103s and the old HT101s have become a coveted item. The HT101s had their fait share of issues but, they were built like rocks and would go and go and go beyond what youd expect any tool to endure. Ive encountered 1 HT103 and im seriously underwelmed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cuts like a chainsaw Bought the HT103 pole saw to remove a tree in my cannel after hurricane Irma. Wonderful saw that cuts thru 6" & 8" branches with ease. My electric pole saw started to smoke so it wasn't able to complete the job. Expensive but well worth it knowing the HT103 pole saw had the power to finish the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A perfect tool for difficult pruning jobs that would be impossible otherwise. A pricey specialty tool, but saves literally hours of time compared with trying to tackle pruning high branches by moving a step-ladder around and using a manual pole saw. This pole pruner allows me to complete needed chores that otherwise, realistically, would simply not get done. Excellent balance makes it feel lighter in use than its actual weight. Easy to aim and maneuver. Runs reliably. Narrow chain cuts well through even thick branches if you are patient and use correct angles. A gem of a product I wish I had bought 16 years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stihl brand is #1 for a reason. As a homeowner I chose the HT 103 model because of the telescoping 16 foot reach. This new model has an easy to use shaft lock. Gloves on or off to do this. The chain bar oil refill works great, but this is a gloves off cap to open for me. That's ok...I'm not in a race to do this process anyway.Day one first time use, I would start it up and let it run for a while to break in. I had started the saw and it went dead a couple times. After this saw is warmed up (30 minutes or so) it is good to go. You won't have to ever do this again. This saw has never quit running after the day one process.I used it on day one without any readjustments. After day two I did tighten the chain a little which was easy to do with a half turn with the included wrench.I have now used this saw at the neighbors house and a few others... you can easily make your money back if you wanted to with this saw. For storing this saw.I hung two rubber coated hooks from the ceiling/wall of my shed. When I sat the saw on the hooks, the saw wanted to swing upside down. I don't want to store this saw upside down.So I reinstalled the hooks closer to the wall so the motor of the saw touches the wall keeping the saw upright. Overall. I love this saw. I will buy other Stihl products. The hedger and edger are next on my list.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome for tree stand pruning! I bought this to help trim out shooting lanes for my bow hunting. Boy does this thing save time and really lets me reach out and cut branches. Spend the money and you won't be disappointed. All my hunting buddies want to borrow it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets the job done This pole saw is better than the thin blade saws. The thin blade bends too easy. Thicker blade and wider chain are best. The upgrade to a thin blade with a 1/4 inch chain is not a good idea.
