Perfect for a rarely used MS-460
I have a variety of Stihl chain saws for different applications. From the HT-100 to a 'baby' MS-180; and I use them a lot on my orchard. What I use infrequently is my MS-460. When I need it - it must work. This means there is trouble or the job is very tough. I heard that All the local fire fighters use pre-mix Stihl gas in their MS-460R and other Stihl equipment so I decided to give it a run. I never looked back. This is the only gas I use in my expensive but some times very necessary MS-460!

    excellent product for your stihl
I use this fuel in my saws and weed wacker. Although it's a little more expensive then mixing your own fuel the perks of using this fuel are unbelievable. My saws only get used in the fall/winter months for firewood and after a full summer of sitting you can go out and fire them off with no hassle. Not only do they start right up they also run as if you just used them yesterday. Excellent work on stihls behalf.

    Awesome When Used
I agree with concensus that Motomix is great product but not cheap. If your an occasional user it is MUCH cheaper than service and frustration of neglected carburetor or the mortal sin of accidently straight gassing! I only use ethanol free fuel and Stihl Ultra Synthetic Oil when mixing my gas (my local Country Mark Fuel has an ethanol free pump). I still use Motomix in my small blower and trimmer that sip fuel. I also put in my chainsaws to store for summer. Home town fire department uses ... read more Motomix to insure easy start of saws when needed and preventing accidentally filling from straight gas can.

    BBQ smoking wood
I cut and use wood for BBQ smoking and always fret about using petroleum based bar oils in regards to health and taste. I've considered using vegetable oil but was not sure which oil to use and how it would perform in a chainsaw. Seeing as how Stihl has their brand on this stuff, I have no doubt that this is what I've been looking for.

healthier for me, lubes the saw well
Unfortunately pricey. Any chainsaw sprays you with bar oil. I like the fact that I smell like french fries at the end of the day rather than petroleum. I would rather breath and bathe in vegetable oil than petrol. The oil washes out of your clothes easily with no residual smell in an ordinary wash. The saw seems to like it just fine. It seems to have a higher viscosity and it seems to use less, but I have not done a scientific side by side test with the regular bar lube. Hard to find product, ... read more dealers are not stocking it.

    Good product, but pricey
I like this oil for it's health and environmental benefits. It also has very good cold flow characteristics. The regular oil flows very slowly and is hard to poor in winter conditions. This oil flows well and is easy to pour. I haven't seen any difference in wear on bar or chains through 2 gallons of use.

It passes the TEST of TIME!
I started using this oil in 1981. I never substituted it's use for the duration I owned an 041AVES chainsaw. That saw ran from 1981-1998 for me. It was "Stihl" running strong when I sold it! The same applies to my 066 Magnum that I ran from 1998-2017. The compression on that engine was just like the day I bought it. It was in good enough shape to get half of what I paid for it back. I ran this oil in my FS-450K Brushcutter/Clearing Saw for over 3,000 hours. I sold that old unit to a professional ... read more Christmas Tree grower who ran it for another 6 or 7 years! (The projected life of that unit was 2,000 hours.) You just can't produce results like that unless the product is great. I did step-up to Stihl HP Ultra this year when I replaced my 066 Magnum with an MS-661 R-CM. It is now in my MS-362 C-M, BR-600, FS-460 C-EM K, & FS-560 C-EM. The bottom line is that I keep coming back to Stihl products & accessories because they keep getting better & better!

    Wonderful product.
Started using this oil when I bought my first stihl chainsaw in 2004 . love it ! Have never had any problems with it . where I live the synthetic oil cost about the same but I still use HP oil. See no need to change . Unless you have a 4-mix engine this oil will work great .

The only 2 cycle oil I use in my chainsaws and weedeater
I use Stihl Performance Oil in all my tools - 009, 044, MS 660 and FS85 Pro and I have not had any motor issues, all still have great compression with very little smoke from the exhaust. The 009 and 044 are 15 years + old and both have had 1 spark plug change in all this time.I check the plugs every month, nice brown tint indicating a good burn of the fuel and oil. I have replaced bars and chains numerous times as these saws get worked every other week but the motors run like new. Very pleased ... read more with this oil......

Winter Bar & Chain Oil Will Flow When Your Coffee's Frozen !
I use Winter Bar & Chain Oil in place of Platinum Bar & Chain Oil on the coldest of cutting days. The summer Oils will turn to molasses or jello at some point. The end result of that could be a "toasted" Bar! If you are still using Woodcutter Bar & Chain Oil, your switch-over to Winter Bar & Chain Oil should occur sooner as it thickens quicker than Platinum Bar & Chain Oil will at a given temperature. Remember, the newer Saws deliver less Oil to the Bar & Chain than the older models do, so ... read more your switch-over point may be more critical depending which Oil & Saw you have. Stihl, please color-code these Oils so we know what is in our Saw!!!

    For the really cold days
I keep a quart around for the really cold days. In all honesty when the saw is warmed up I just run the Platinum Bar Lube and I haven’t had any issues. For the really really cold days this does flow better through the pump and onto the bar. It protects well but I switch when the temperature gets above 20F.

    Excellent Product
I have tried cheaper brands with poor results. This oil keeps the chain oiled and bar cooler.

Platinum Bar Oil is a CUT-ABOVE the Rest !
I was skeptical at first browse of this product. I thought, at the time, there was no good reason to swap from my many years of using Woodcutter Bar & Chain Oil. This is my first year using Platinum Bar & Chain Oil. What I have discovered is that it takes less overall quantity of this Oil to achieve the same level of lubrication provided by it's predecessor. Another benefit is this Oil is not as temperature-sensitive as the Woodcutter Bar & Chain Oil is. In other words, it will perform ... read more satisfactorily at somewhat lower temperatures before you ultimately need to switch over to Winter Bar & Chain Oil. It will take you some time to get used to having less visible Oil on your Chain, but the proof of proper lubrication is a cool-running Bar that isn't burning the paint off! However, if you have one of the newer Saws, be prepared to turn-up the Oil Quantity setting to near maximum level...even when using Platinum Bar & Chain Oil. I found the "E" setting on my new MS-362,461, & 661 to be too lean with 20", 25", & 32" Bars, respectively. So, I guess this means that the Woodcutter Bar & Chain Oil may be an unsatisfactory choice for proper lubrication on the newer Saws with lower-volume Oil Pumps & newer Bars with smaller Oil Delivery Holes.

    Platinum Protection for my Equipment
I’m running this in all of my saws and it’s the best I’ve ever seen. It’s a clear color so pay attention when filling the tank, but the performance is top shelf! I’ve used it well below freezing and it flows just fine, especially when the Saw is good and warm. It protects in both the hot/humid weather and the cold. I do t use separate bar lines for cold weather any more. Just the platinum for all conditions! It does not clog up my tank or pump either. The tackiness is great and it stays in place ... read more very well even at high chain speeds. All in all it’s the best chain/bar Lube I’ve ever used and it’s well worth the modest cost difference.

    Acceptable Eco Compliant Gas Can
I’ve managed to hang onto my “old” non automatic closing to avoid the “hardware store “ quality auto close nozzles that spill gas everywhere and break almost instantaneously when used... I’ve had a few experiences and constantly question if this is progress... BUT this No-Spill Fuel Container is a different story all together. It is made well enough and seems to hold up under use. The price is not bad and it simply works! It is nice to be able to meter the fuel into the machines with a push of a ... read more button and not have to press the nozzle into the opening to release the fuel... usually onto the floor.. Anyway, this is a different animal and if you are tired of paying good money for hardware store eco junk, this is the gas can you want! It is well worth any extra expense! I recommend it 100%!!

    Great fuel can
I have purchased a bunch of these cans for gas, mix fuel, diesel and they're great for the simple fact that you don't spill unless you overfill. Since they don't make a can dedicated to mix fuel I use the blue kerosene one and label it mix. The only downfall is I've had a handful of o-rings fall off into the can without knowing causing it to leak when filling machines but that could have just been my guys being careless screwing the spout on early in the morning.
