    easy to use
this is a good product. I had about 10 trees to prune on my property. The saw worked very well and was easy to handle. I have had STIHL chain saws all of my adult life. I still have a old Super 45 Av chain saw that is running well when needed that is 35 years old or so. I think this pole saw will last as long. I also have 2 other STIHL chain saw and a leaf blower. They all work well

    Great Reach and Power
This pole saw is an excellent tool for cutting lower branches in the juniper and pine trees on my property. It cut through branches as thick as 8 inches with ease. As I moved about on my property, which is on a hillside, I would turn the saw off but then it would start again with just a gentle pull of the starter rope without even disconnecting the strap or placing it on the ground. The pole is strong and provides excellent reach to high branches. It is reasonably lightweight, but after ... read more prolonged use, can feel heavy. It stores easily in my garage since the pole disconnects simply, allowing me to hang both the saw end and the motor end on the wall.

    awesome
i am a home user, was looking for pole saw, Stihl came recommended from a friend who owns almost all the saws Stihl makes, i am only 150 lbs, very lean and thin person, even this one feels heavy after an hour of cutting, still i had so much fun with this saw. it starts with one pull almost all the time, easy2start makes starting so easy i think my 10 yr old daughter can start it. once started it cuts branches like butter, nothing will be able to stop this saw, i have cut oak~pine with ease. i ... read more would recommend this pole saw over any other brand at any time. after i was done with my backyard, i volunteered to clean up my friends backyard. too much fun!!

    Great Product But......
Bought this Lopper Attachment for my PP800 Telescoping pole. The product is top of the line and definitely makes life easier and keeps me from having to climb trees to prune. However, there are a couple of issues that I had with my purchase. First of all, the unit shows an eyebolt to attach the rope too - had to purchase this myself which is ridiculous. I also did not like the quality of the rope supplied with the unit and so I went to Lowes and bought a 25ft section of 3/8" Twisted Poly Rope ... read more with a 3/8" Rope Clamp and Thimble Set. Once I attached the eyebolt, rope and clamp and thimble, I am very pleased with the Lopper Attachment. When you buy a Stihl product, you don't expect to have to buy other items in order to use the product. I believe that this needs to be looked into by quality control.

    the best there is
Sold my off brand lopper and just bought this high quality lopper attachment....bought the pp800 pole I believe and at 18 feet high cutting the branches is so easy I don't even have to use the 8ft step ladder anymore...the easy pull of the rope and instant cut is just so easy and its so heavy duty and yet lightweight....another too notch quality product from STIHL....! I always clean it with Stihl penetrating oil and the razor sharp cutter stays clean as new and the tree sap won't corrode or ... read more rust the lopper either...you won't believe how it is so easy to use and precise point of cut on the branch . Thanks STIHL!

Very well made, high quality pole pruner
I bought the PP 900 a few years back and use it quite regularly on my tree covered lot. It has a very good blade on it for effortless cutting of limbs. I also like the fact that you can get replacement parts if you need them. The unit is expensive, but you get what you pay for! STIHL has done their research on this tool! I HIGHLY recommend the PP 900.

    Great pole saw
I recently bought my first pole saw from a noted home improvement store: a 16' extendable fiberglass unit with a saw blade and lopper head. It was not expensive, and it showed when I used it. I returned it, and bought another online with blue aluminum poles promising cuts at over 30' high. When the set arrived, I assembled all six 6' poles, checked it for stability, found the results laughable and listed it for sale without even opening the box containing the saw head, blade, etc. I then did ... read more what I should've done initially, and that of course was buy the PP900 with extra mid pole, and I am beyond pleased with this set. For one thing, all of the components are beautifully crafted, if you can say that about a pole saw. Both the saw and lopper blades are razor sharp. When I first looked at the 13" saw blade mine came with, I was a little concerned because it was not as "tall" as a 13" blade I have on a hand pruning saw. I thought that might affect its lateral stability while cutting. It absolutely did not; the saw cut exceptionally well. The rope the set comes with is 14' long; obviously if you get the mid pole and intend to use the lopper head with all three poles you'll have to get a longer rope. I did; no big deal. This is a first class pole saw. Incidentally, I am 5'6" tall, 140 lbs, and 62 years old, and am able to handle this unit with all three poles connected without difficulty. FYI, each pole weighs approx. 2lbs. 6 oz., the lopper head with rope weighs approx. 2lbs. 4oz. and the saw head w/blade weighs approx. 1lb. 3oz.

    Excellent Product
I bought the HT 103 to cut branches on 15 acre farm which has many low hanging limbs on the field edges that hit you in the face while running a bush-hog with the tractor. I'm very experienced with chainsaws and cut professionally for a period of time. This is my first season with the saw and thus far I am ecstatic with the performance. Being able to extend the reach and function has been superb.

    Easy to start and use.
Nothing but a Stihl for me. Used my new ht 103 pole saw as soon as I got home from the dealer. Plenty of power and starts every time. Made fast work of the low hanging limbs around my property.

    well engineered product
This pruner is a beast. I brought it home and immediately began trimming limbs up to 6" in diameter with no hesitation. It was easy to extend and even at full extension performed exactly as I had hoped. Balance is good and controls are located so as to be safe and easy to use. I held off a long time purchasing this saw as it seemed expensive to me, however, it was worth the money and I don't mind paying the price when I get the quality. I have a Stihl line trimmer and chain saw and would not own ... read more any other brand of equipment. I have had other brands in the past which have all been disappointing and ended up being disposable when it came to any repairs. I have six acres of property, all lined by woods and over-hanging trees. This pruner earns it's keep.

    Quiet, Powerful
I have been considering the battery powered line of tools from Stihl, because I hate when a tool won't start. For tools that I use a lot, weed eater, blower, etc, this is not a problem. Even my small (021) chainsaw runs often enough so that I don't usually have a problem. But my hedge trimmer, and my large saw, don't get used all that often, and I am always concerned that I need to fully drain the tank, and carb each time I use them. So when I decided to get a pole pruner, I looked at the ... read more battery line again. It is more expensive to start. For the complete set, battery, charger and tool, it cost about 25% more, but now I have the charger, and a battery, so if I decide to replace another tool, I will definitely consider battery power. So on to the meat of the review: The saw has plenty of power for the trimming I was doing. I was trimming branches 6-8" in diameter, and it didn't bog down at all. I used it for about an hour (obviously not running the saw all the time), and I got tired before the saw did. When I finished up, I still had about half the battery left, according to the LED display. The saw was heavier than I would have liked, but still lighter than the gas powered unit, and handled pretty well, even reaching higher than I probably should have safely done. I like the quiet of the saw, if for nothing else, I could hear when the limbs were starting to crack, so that I could get out of the way. All-in-all, I am very pleased with the saw, and I will consider other electric tools from Stihl. I don't regret this purchase at all.

Powerful for a battery powered device
The battery on the HTA 85 lasts longer than I do on a tree trimming project. The 12" bar allows for cutting large limbs. Much of my trimming is with the pole at maximum extension, and it is a bit unwieldy being so long. But trim it does! Small branches or larger limbs are cut quickly. The motor is quiet enough that ear muffs are not required. Just push the trigger and the chain starts. Release the trigger and the motor stops. The unit is easy to clean, as there is only one nut to loosen to ... read more remove the cover or adjust chain tension. All in all, I'm impressed with this pole saw, plenty of power, easy to use, and the construction seems rugged.

Love this unit - does more than expected
My wife had purchased the battery powered string trimmer a few years ago and we love it. I had decided I needed a pole pruner and had looked at gas powered units. I decided on the Stihl battery powered unit - we already had the battery and charger. I have used it several times for many different jobs. It has cut everything that I have felt safe cutting and some I haven't. It is heavier than lower priced units but will cut much more than they will. I have never had it bog down on a limb and have ... read more cut some at almost 8 inches in diameter. I am very happy with this unit and will be buying other Stihl battery powered units.

    pole
i have 3 and a medium size company. we use mainly for palms, probably 1000 per year. works great. you can improve the blade by making the small chopping blade double sided. the locking on the poles last a season. we drill the pole out and use pins. could be made better. however i could not do these palms without it

    Completely awesome yard tool
My 14 year old 12' Pole saw finally broke for good. I debated buying a 21' Japanese saw for awhile then I happened to see this Stihl saw at my local ace store. Once I had it in my hands It felt just great and was lighter than I expected. Made the ace manager measure the saw and it was almost 19' to the base of the saw blade. Took it home and started trimming my Queen palm trees and did t stop until it was dark! Very powerful saw blade and the ligament and hook cutting blades were super ... read more sharp. This Stihl was an absolute pleasure to use and its light weight and grip didn't tire this old 59 yo man! My only regret is not buyi g this a year ago

Really love the product, but I wish one thing could be improved
Overall I don't think I have ever used a better extension pole. I will say that I wish the third section was a little more durable. I was cutting a large limb and it fell and twisted and bent the third section slightly. The pole is still useable, but it doesn't collapse all the way. The weight is abolutely amazing compared to a fiberglass pole.
