    Best saw i own
I have been using stihl for over 22 years now. I have used about every saw known to man. I would reccomend stihl chainsaws over any other. I cut 2 cords of wood a week through winter. I had a 290 it lasted 10 yrs doing winter work. I bought a 311 its even better yet awesome power i use the full chisel chain its much faster than the regular chain. I would not reccomend a beginner use this saw for a first saw.

    Excelent Chainsaw, highly recommended
I bought this chainsaw as my other smaller saw was not up to the task of the larger trees I had to handle. With the 24 inch bar I am handling the 40" diameter oak trees like they were soft butter. This saw has not even slowed down to take a breath. 8 cord of wood in two weekends and this thing is ready for more. I do recommend the carbide chain if you are doing large capacity cutting, but of course if you are doing that much like I am, you probably already know that. I would recommend this saw ... read more to anyone that needs to step up to a larger 3/8 chain and longer bar. A real workhorse without getting into the real heavy chainsaws that are an arm workout.

    raker gauge is spot on
Bought this tool in 3/8,.325,3/8 picco for each of my saws. The hard setting on the raker gauge is spot on for me on oak, have not used the soft side of the guage. This is a high quality tool made well. Used it a lot and can still read the words soft and hard on the raker guage. Would highly recommend this to any one who hand files their saw chain.

    Perfect product for a novice
I always sent my chains out to be sharpened , wasn't comfortable with doing it myself. It got quite expensive so I checked out the product at my dealers. Extremely easy process with this kit. If you are intimidated by doing it yourself, don't be. It's super easy, just follow the directions, stihl has on line videos to help as well. I highly recommend doing it yourself and saving the money versus paying someone else.

This is a very good kit and works well once you are familiar with the correct way to use it. I also recommend trying the 2 in 1 sharpening tool as an even easier method. Regardless, this is a quality kit and does an excellent job maintaining a sharp chain.

    Easy to use
I do not waste my money paying someone else to sharpen my chains. A sharp chain is a must when using a chainsaw. I have 4 chains I rotate for my ms250. I mostly file and sharpen them at home. I have two chains for the ms362 and one of them is a full skip chain. The full skip is really easy to file in the field at each gas fill up. The stump vice is a great addition to this file set for sharpening. Getting the right angle is easy with this tool. 1-4 strokes is all I need for a sharp chain. Ask ... read more the dealer to show you how they work. I have used a dremel and actually prefer the file set.

    Great little chain
Great chain. Running on my Kombi pole pruner without any issues. Stays sharp and is easily returned to like new with a few minutes of filing. Eats through tough limbs.

    file gauge
The top plate angle and drag depth are pretty self explanatory. The side plate angle is what has me puzzled. I have sighted this with a brand new chain according to the chain spec and still don't really understand how to read the angle on the saw. I am guessing that four out of five ain't bad. 1. top plate angle (check# 2. drag depth #check# 3. bar groove depth #check# 4. bar groove cleaner #check# 5. side plate angle reading # x )

    Great saw
The easy start is great. I ruined my old saw when I put regular gas in it. My friend had an easy start saw. I got to use it and loved. When I replaced my old one I purchased the easy start. It has plenty of power and it is easy to use. Love it and I would recommend it perspective buyers.

    Quality Made Stihl Tool
I am a novice. The Depth Gauge Tool came in the pouch with the flat file and round file with guide bar. I'm able to follow the instructions, however I believe that a video should be created by Stihl to demonstrate to the novice all the wonderful features this tool has and how to use them. Safety is tantamount to the health of the arborist and forestry industry. Understanding the how and why of this tool to convince the owner/user to replace/service a saw chain in a timely manner will boost ... read more confidence in the user to utilize this and other Stihl products.

I have been using wedges for thirty years or more. I've used Stihl brand more than any other because they are tough. I have never snapped one in two, other brands I have though. The heads will begin to mushroom after many beatings. I've hit them with hammers, axes, rocks, and even pieces of cut wood without damaging them. I've hit the tips with the chain from time to time all this does is rough up the thin edge of the wedge as well as shorten them. I use them for bucking and felling. Using ... read more them has saved me time and prevented damage to the bars and chains. I always have some in my stuff bag and saw cases.

High QUALITY and holds up to hard use!
I have purchased every size of STIHL wedges over the years and use them regularly in my felling and bucking processes. These wedges really take a beating and they have saved my bars many times. If I'm bucking large trees,I place a wedge in the top of the cut after about six inches of cut, this is truly a time saver,as well as a money saver when cutting firewood. Inexpensive and well worth their weight in gold! I use them all the time in the woods.

    Durable and light
I have used other brand's wedges and they broke in half only the second time I used it. The Stihl wedges are stronger and more reliable than others. I use the wedges for felling and bucking. Wedges are the safest way to fell a tree. I own three Stihl wedges, I smash them into the tree to prevent bar pinch and to control the tree while felling. I have hit the wedges with my saw and no damage occurred to the chain. Very useful tool.
