Plenty of power and easy to start
This is an awesome machine. What use to take hours with a small electric trimmer can now be completed in minutes. The clean up is now the hardest part of the job; trimming the hedges is easy and they look great!

    Excellent Trimmer.
Really pleased in the HS 56 so far. Plenty of power for my needs. Glad not to be married to a cord anymore when trimming. I was always worried about cutting the cord when trimming with my other corded hedge trimmer. Cut my trimming time down about 40%. I also got a good deal by getting an extra battery along with the purchase of the HS 56 trimmer. Thank You STIHL for making my yard work a little easier.

    Awesome tool
I absolutely love these hedgers!! My old ones were another common brand I constantly had problems with. These are powerful, sharp and start almost immediately every time! I LOVE STIHL. My chainsaw is an old stihl model 021 production started in 1990 and it still starts and runs like a top. Also have gas edger I use a lot. Highly recommend this product!!

I may be slow, but i got it now
After managing 1.5 acres with a substandard trimmer and hand shears I finally ponied up and got the Stihl 82T from my local hardware store. Within minutes of starting it up and clearing a bunch of overgrown Oliander I was kicking myself for putting this purchase off! This thing can slice its way through a concrete wall if you so desire. It is extremely well balanced and after an hour of use I had run out of things to cut and I was looking for more!

Should have bought this years ago
I love this trimmer. I haven't had this more than two days, so my dependability rating is purely a guess, based on my other, older Stihl equipment (FS 85 trimmer and 036 Pro chainsaw). I don't make money at this job, but I do have to cut about 200' total of hedges with parts over 6’ tall, twice a week in the springtime, then tapering to every 2 weeks as the summer heat picks up and the growth slows. After 18 years learning the Zen of keeping these straight and sharp, I'll call myself an ... read more expert. I bought this HS 82 T to supplement my FS 85 which has an adjustable angle trimmer on the end of a 5’ rod. That FS 85 has been great for the last 15 years, but I've grown tired of swinging the relatively short trimmer on the end of the long and heavy stick. I would've tried the 40" 87 T if it came in double-sided, but my hedge type only does well when I swing the cut in both directions to keep the branches only pointing outward not vertical, and I didn't want to walk twice up and down their lengths. This also looked better than the 87 T to flip upside down and use above my head. For my job, this trimmer is fantastic. It has a lightweight aluminum stiffener along the length of the bar that's not too tall to get in the way. Mine didn't come with the nifty semi-circle protector at the tip as in the picture, but my FS 85 didn't have one either, and I haven't had a problem from the occasional ding onto the sidewalk. The exhaust being ported toward away from me and toward the cutter is more than welcome. It’s a much quieter running machine than the FS85, with none of its “ding ding ding” of the centrifugal clutch. The weight on this felt much lighter than the similar trimmer from another brand that I tried. They’re nearly the same dry weight on paper, but for me it's not about total weight, it's about the balance. I need to swing the trimmer a zillion times, and for that this trimmer is a dream, beating the other hands down. One thing that surprised me is that I also really like the rotating trigger handle. At first I thought it too gimmicky, but it really is easier to use the trimmer when the handle is oriented right. I especially like putting it sideways, then the trimmer feels more like it’s in chainsaw mode. Very comfy. I hope I don’t wear out the mechanism, as the plastic-on-plastic swivel handle is the one thing I’m a little worried about for long-term durability. The vibration isolation works very well. I didn’t come in after work with my fingers still vibrating from gripping the trimmer for hours, as always happens with using my FS 85. I’d even tried special gloves to reduce the nerve damage, but their thick foam made the work harder. With the HS 82 I got no such problem, and was only wearing regular leather work gloves. With the weighted fuel filter, the trimmer works great in any orientation -- sideways, pointed up or down, and upside down while over my head. I had no fuel feed problems, and speaking of fuel, it seems to be fairly fuel efficient too, which is nice. In summary, the specs of this trimmer met the specs for my task, and the rest of the features have made me very happy to use this fantastic tool.

    professional hedge trimmers
Amazing product moved up from the hs 45 the hs 82t has more power no vibration and the exhaust is channeled to the front of the trimmer away from the operator. Rotating rear handle is great for long hedges. Overall the best trimmer on the market today well thought out features perfect for the professional.

This Stihl Is as strong as steel
This is my first Stihl and also my first single sided hedge trimmer. The first thing I notice the handles a farther apart and when holding the unit it feel a lot lighter and it's a lot more maneuverable and since my hand is not in front of the engine like on the double sided blade unit I can see better. Another thing is on the fist job I had to trim this long hedge that was chest height when I was dome I noticed that I was feeling fatigue on my arms and not my arms and my back like I normally ... read more do. Performance wise Stihl spec says this thing is geared for TORQUE to cut overgrown hedges let me tell you I was cutting this over grown bougainvillea that I was taking like a foot in other places even more the branches were 1/2 inch tick and this thing cut it like it was nothing and I was holding the throttle about 20% this is a torque monster I have cut 1" tick overgrown hedges no problem with this thing 20% throttle or less is all I need. I you have to cut overgrown hedges this is the machine for you!

    Reliable & powerful
I bought the 87R because I moved onto some new property and need to clear brush growing over and through the fences along the property line. I picked the R model because it is described has having extra torque for cutting thicker vegetation. This machine does not disappoint! It starts easily and the controls are very ergonomic--even though I am left-handed and this machine is built for a right-handed person I find it very comfortable to use. It has plenty of power. It easily cuts through ... read more yaupon, blackberry, brambles, and other misc brush up through 1/2" thick with the engine at partial throttle! I'm sure it has the power to cut thicker brush, I just haven't encountered it yet. When trimming along the fenceline I like the fact that I can concentrate on making sure I don't strike the fence, and otherwise just let the machine do its thing. I don't have to worry about bogging it down or taking too heavy of a cut--it just cuts whatever gets in front of it. The anti-vibe system on this machine is also fantastic. It feels very smooth to run with minimal vibration transferred back to the user. That was something I didn't really think about when I bought the unit but I noticed it right away when I first ran it. This trimmer is not cheap, but I learned years ago that professional quality power equipment is worth every penny. Instead of buying homeowner gear over and over again because it is impractical if not impossible to repair, buy pro gear ONCE and save a lot of money in the long run. Not to mention you can enjoy the increase in productivity at the same time.

    HS87R Great hedge trimmer
I had a 28 inch electric prior to purchasing this outstanding trimmer. What took me 3 or 4 hours to trim is now completed in less than an hour, without having to use manual trimmers and cutters on large branches. Great product, easy to start. I should have bought one long ago.

    Great Product
Just purchased my HS 87 T and gave it a run when I returned home. I was pleasantly surprised at how light it felt in my hands. The ergonomic design was very comfortable and it is well balanced. As far as the trimmer's performance, anyone who owns a Stihl product can attest that it speaks for itself! Although it is a bit on the pricey side, the performance outweighs the cost. I would definitely recommend this product to all of my friends!

    This trimmer works great.
I got the 40" due to the depth of my bushes. I'm able to hold the trimmer at the level I want my bushes and just walk down the row. The trimmer doesn't bog down, it just cuts.

Great tool and makes the job more efficient.
I use this tool on a daily basis and everyday it performs very well. The only issue I have is that after only three hours of operation, the nut, bolt and washer fell off the handle. Luckily I was able to find it in my customers lawn. Ten minutes and I was up and going again. This is the reason for the 4 on quality. I do recommend this tool and most Stilh products.

    Stihl hits a grand slam!
The HL94 adjustable trimmer is the king of all trimmers. Easy to start and run. The adjustable cutting feature makes jobs of any height a snap with a proper ladder. The cutting power handles branches of 3/4 of a inch or less with ease. User must be able to handle the weight of the unit while using. This product is designed a professional landscaper and the hardee home owner.

    Excellent Hedge Trimmer
The articulating trimmer offers more versatility for my needs. I am able to do more hedge trimming without a ladder, a big plus! The HL94K starts easily every time. I really like the throttle adjusting control which enables cutting at a consistent speed. Be sure to use Stihl resin spray lube on the blade after each use. If you are looking for an ideal trimmer for larger hedges/bushes, this is the one.

    Well built tool
At our landscape company we were tired of other brands failing at the pivot point of the blades. We gave Stihl a try and couldn’t be happier. Great quality of engine, blade sharpness, and balance.
