HSA 66 is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This hedge trimmer preformed a lot better than I thought it would. I bought this trimmer to trim balsams and bushes around the yard. My wife used it for cutting down weeds in her butterfly garden. She wanted to know why I didn't get one sooner. Used it only 4 time so far however, being a Stihl product I expect it to perform well for a long time. It is slick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not like the cheap pretenders No negatives. Battery is a workhorse, and also re-charges very quickly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ergonomics were an afterthought I waited one year to write this so I would have a full opportunity to adapt to the product. Using the AP180 with this model provides to charge that outlasts the stamina of anybody doing hedge trimming. However, the trimmer is horribly nose heavy so the fatigue quickly builds up.Also, the safety engineer added an interlock to the front handle that increases fatigue as you must apply a firm grip on the interlock to operate the trimmer. This increases fatigue especially when trimming the sides of hedges where grip pressure has to increase to overcome the interlock. The quick fix is to wrap tape around this interlock to defeat it. I'd rather see it go away reducing trimmer weight and cost. While the trimmer has plenty of power, the bar length is too short (20") and tooth spacing is too narrow for many applications. These are areas that Stihl could easily be corrected with parts from the gasoline models. After buying this I quickly invested in the HLA85 and I'd rather use it in most applications. While it's a little heavier, the balance on it is far superior.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Been down under and back with my Stihl We have a steep slope (AKA cliff) behind our house that gets heavy brush overgrowth that has to be taken back regularly. I repel down and go for it. There is no other tool to use. My Stihl HSA 66 makes quick work of the entire job, including those pesky alder saplings, up to 3/4", no problem. My wife calls it "down under and back".Oh and there's our 20 foot tall Leylandii Cypress hedge. No problem. Straight as an arrow, flat as a board. The hedge, I mean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good power, battery fully charged in less than 10 minutes Good power, cut through a tough hedge with 3/4 in branches in some spots and did not bog down. The blade is extremely sharp, probably sharper than all the knives in my drawer. It was so sharp it scared my wife and she said she wasn't going to use it.After she saw me cut through the hedge she couldn't wait and asked me to leave one for her.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gaslike power without the gas The power of this is HSA66 is only slightly less powerful than the HS80 and after almost 10 years of the HS80 2 stroke smell I really like the HSA66. After the first hour or so of trimming we were nearly done with the job when I was walking around looking everything over before the blowers started. I saw a bush we missed so I picked up the HSA and while looking at the bush I instinctively pulled the center of the trimmer like I was trying to pull start the HS80. My guys all started laughing and it wasn't until I looked down I realized I had just tried to "pull start" a battery power trimmer. Ya, its that similar. Batteries are a real option for professional daily use. We are starting to phase out the HS80's and do not anticipate buying anymore HS81's.
