Stop buying cheap tools every year
It seems like every year I have to buy a new maul, those cheap box store tools just don't last. Even after one use the head is loose or showing wear, I'm tired of it. I decided to spend some extra money and try a quality tool. Everything stihl makes that I own is a quality tool and they don't let you down with their axes and mauls. I bought a maul today and wow what a nice quality piece. Split over a cord of hard knotty red oak today and am very impressed with the maul. The steel is very hard ... read more and sharp, the handle is top quality hickory and most impressive is the overstrike collar. Very thick steel and even after a few nasty misses it doesn't dent or even mark. An overstrike on a cheap maul would snap most handles. Overall I am very impressed with the splitting capability of the maul but not surprised, stihl makes high quality tools that last . You won't regret this purchase, quit wasting money on cheap tools. There really is a difference

PRO SPLITTING MAUL Costs the Price of QUALITY!
I've heard some dealers grumble about the price of Stihl Hand Tools, but it comes down to this...YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR ! Ochsenkopf (Ox Head)- produced steel tools are made of high-quality German steel...a wise vendor choice by Stihl. This maul will hold an edge. Grab the handle and appreciate the hefty girth and shape. That, in itself, will reduce your percentage of overstrikes, but in the event they happen...a steel sleeve is there to protect your handle. You won't find these features on ... read more cheaply-produced products. This maul may not fly off the shelves, but it won't fly out of your hands either! Just to be clear...I am not a dealer. I bought the Pro Splitting Hatchet primarily to pound wedges while felling, the Pro Splitting Axe for chopping small-to-medium rounds, and now the Pro Splitting Maul for opening up large rounds. My cheaper substitutes will go out in the next estate sale. I'm done using junk! Just look at it this way: This maul costs less, per pound, than you'll pay for jumbo prawns from your local grocer...and, it won't contribute to water & sewer bill the next day!

You'd think it was gas operated!!
I've never split wood in my life until today. This maul is worth every penny. I was concerned that it may be too light but it went through pine and aspen in no time. I split wood for 3 hours before I got tired. Mostly because it was so much fun to use! The collar on the handle is handy but be careful. Hit it just right and it'll give you a zinger!!

    Works better than it should
This may be the smallest lopper in the product lineup, but it can power through branches that should justify getting a different tool. It's small enough to be easy to wield, yet strong enough to cut almost anything that will fit in the jaws. Whether the wood is dry or green, this will cut it. After 5 years of use, I'm amazed I haven't been able to break it yet, despite my best efforts. All hand tools should be made this well.

Stand up well to daily use in a 10 acre vineyard!
I was a little concerned about the length of the handles until I used them the first time. They are very easy to maneuver because of the blade and hook design. You can get into very tight places in a vine canopy. These will cut!

    These are terrific!
After 8 years of heavy use, I had to throw my loppers away yesterday. I cleared riding trails, pruned up trees, cut brush, you name it, they performed! I am headed to buy a new looper this am. No other loppers compare.

    Your perfect splitting axe
I did my research. I watched hours of reviews. After considering the formidable competition I felt that the STIHL Pro Splitting Axe was the best tool for the job and I must say my feeling was true. I managed to split almost a cord of wood before skipping off a knot and slicing the inside of my leg right down to the white meat. An ER visit and 11 stitches later, I’m still a happy customer and can’t wait to get out there and get at some more wood.. My advice is to be perfectly certain that you ... read more have the proper protective gear and wear it, in the heat or in the cold. Or you’ll be in the ER as well. This tool absolutely devastates wood, and does no less to flesh.. Believe me! With that being said, I highly recommend this Pro Splitting Axe, when wearing the appropriate protective gear.

    Great tool
I just bought this tool and I have been use it for almost 2 months, i use it for very tricky rounds and it works great. Perfect ergonomics, nice balanced tool and very nice hickory handle, I think that the touch of Ochsenkopf axe company it's definitely obvious.. I'm very happy with the attachment system and the steel overstrike plate protection on the handle. Beautiful and functional tool, my conclusion is that this Axe do the job easier.

    Stihl products are top notch
Stihl makes high quality tools period. I have split wood for years and every year I replace my splitting axe because all of these Home Depot tools are no good. Finally I learned my lesson and bought a higher end axe and I don't think I'll have to replace it for many years. Great quality, good steel, built like a tank. To answer the question about using the axe for pounding wedges, any time you use something to strike steel that's just as hard as what you are using there will be problems Never ... read more use your expensive tools like this axe to hit steel, regardless of what stihl says. The handle will loosen no matter what. Buy cheap sledge hammers to pound wedges.

    Best value I've seen
I have bought and returned several small hatchets to do some limb splitting around the house. Most in this price range without dropping a ton of money on a Scandinavian one are dull as a marble. This one came with a nice edge, and it seems to be holding well; I took a file to it anyway and now it's fit to shave my whiskers. A couple of feedback items: I purchased this from an ACE Hardware dealer and it was covered in stickers. Certainly not STIHL's fault but I took quite a bit of paint off ... read more the hatchet getting them removed. Not that it should be, but be aware the paint is not chemically resistant. Secondly, it did come with a rubber sheath, and I would really like to see that listed on this page (and for all of their axes) under "accessories" as a stand-alone item. This hatchet feels like it will last a long time and I'd like to be able to continue to protect the edge.

    Well worth the money.
This is a chopper not a splitter. Lops most branches with a single swing like they were not even there. Took down a 9-10 inch healthy birch with few swings the other day. I worked the factory edge on day one, a year later I am still using that edge. I have 4 acres of NW woods to maintain.

Very Convenient And Handy For Tree Trimmers
I have used these saws for years while trimming. These saws are not so long as to hinder a climber as he's making his way through the canopy of a tree and tight crotches.

Perfect hand saw for trimming limbs.
I've had my PS 60 Pruning Saw for the last five years and it is still as sharp as when I bought it! It has a very comfortable hand grip and seems to be just at the right angle to make cutting almost effortless. The saw carrier is well made and easy to wear on your belt. If you don't want to get the chainsaw out to cut small branches, get yourself one of these,it's a real time saver.

    Excellent design and functionality.
I feel certain that this fine product will provide many years of dependable service. It is a joy to use. You just can't go wrong with this saw.

    Good head weight
I purchased this hatchet to split kindling and was reluctant to use it as it didn't fit well in my hand when it was toward the base for small cuts and I thought that it was too heavy for kindling. My wood stove uses 10" max lengths of wood and I cut a bunch of Cherry and Peach wood. I've been using this hatchet to split this hardwood and was surprised that it worked so well. I have yet had to use my splitting maul. It has enough head weight and carries enough momentum to chop some 6" diameter ... read more logs. It could have been a little sharper given the cost and I'm not sure why Stihl has to load the head and handle with stickers that are difficult to remove. Overall I am very pleased with the way the hatchet works.

    Great for making kindling
I purchased a PA20 splitting hatchet to keep a pile of dry kindling on hand. After splitting logs with a hydroalic splitter I find that the PA20 splitting hatchet is a very convenient tool for splitting a few pieces of fire wood further to keep a bucket of kindling on hand during the winter season. Having this tool keeps me prepared to starti a fire in our boiler fast and easy in the event that the fire burns out before I get home from a long day at work. Thanks to Stihl for the great ... read more quality, and thanks to Milts Sales and Service for the large selection of supplies, and great customer service they provide.

Good head weight and the handle is the right length.
I've used my hatchet now for about 8 years has worked great for everything. Could've been sharper when it was new. The handle has taken some damage and I would like get a new handle and put it on my self is there a way I can do this with out going to the dealer. The dealer want to repair it for me for warranty purposes. I take care of my tools and know how to install a new handle, please help me in any way.
