Rated 5 out of 5 by from Advantage- Twisted Wedge The design, materials and construction of this tool are improvements over standard metal wedges. It is lighter. The "teeth" may not look/be sharp, yet do hold the wedge in wet, icy, frozen wood quickly. The head and point seem to be somewhat hardened....hard, but have not chipped, fractured, broken; head hadn't mushroomed. The design reinforces the lower 2". (bends, doesn't break).DO NOT stress-test this wedge by attempting to split a dried bole of fatwood at a 45-degree angle to where a large limb had grown out from trunk. It was harder than Fat-Boy's head. I finally did split that mess, after nearly an hour with a 20-lb. sledge. Half of the tip was bent back on itself (I have pictures), which explains the slow progress. My X-Ray vision wasn't working so well, thus couldn't see inside the wood. Stihl replaced the wedge in short-order.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome!! Got this wedge the other day for just the heck of it. Glad I did, one of the best purchases I have ever made. I don't know what the heck the guy that gave this a 1 star was doing but I have beaten the heck out of it and it is not deformed!! Splits wood logs that are even fresh cut and on the ground not a hard surface. Wedge goes right in and splits no problem. I can split 24 inch diameter logs with ease using a little hand sledge. This thing is great would recommend all day long to anyone!!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from needs inprovment the wedge on paper works great but in use it has its draw backs. the wedge dose not stand up to repeated use. after about 8 hrs of use the wedge had deformed heavily. so i took it back to the dealer they warranted and gave me a norther one not even kidding 12 hits with a 8 pound maul and the point of the wedge had bent 90 degrees in the other direction making a vary expensive paper weight. for a wedge of this coast and descried as a rugged it should be able to go thru small tree knots. . its is a good idea on paper but it needs to be made out of a stronger metal. i love stihl saws and own 3 and was disappointed in the poor quality of this wedge

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have for splitting hardwood Better than other wedges, does not bounce out, and splits wood with ease. 2in to 3in or less makes a wide gap in the wood.Needs demonstration models at dealerships and very hard to find in south central PA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had to have this unique style splitting wedge! I stopped by my STIHL dealer last week and saw this wedge on the shelf. Me being the type of person to purchase most anything STIHL, I brought it home and tried it on a few logs to split. The twisted wedge made splitting almost as easy as a hot knife through butter! It's lightweight and starts into the block of wood easily, almost like pounding a large screw into wood! Reasonable price for something this easy to use.
