    Good But Could Be Better
I've been using these chains to cut stumps lately. My stumps have ranged from 4 - 30" or so skewed in number toward the small end. Stumps have been mostly boxelder which are soft and buckthorn which are 10" and less. Cuts have been within the root collar close to ground level. After cutting several hundred of these. I find I average about 100 or so before the chain stretches beyond usability, i.e. won't fit my bar and saw (Stihl 391) anymore. Lengthening resulted from elongation of the holes ... read more in the chain links. The linkages need to be tougher for the chain to last longer. Though perfectly usable, carbide chains at the sharpest end of their lives are not as sharp as standard chains at their sharpest. Carbide chains also require special sharpening equipment. When trying to decide whether to use these chains for this application, I spent some time shopping sharpening costs which varied considerably from dealer to dealer. This variable turned out to be irrelevant, however, because the teeth were still cutting decently without any sharpening at the point at which the chain failed. Still, a hundred stumps is a lot of stumps and much more than the handful that it would take to dull a standard chain and still a good option relative to other alternatives in my opinion. I'm currently on my 3rd and, based upon my current awarenesses, would purchase more.

    Best for Gambel Oak
This is the best chain I have found to use on Gambel Oak for its dirty bark and hard wood interior. This chain has lasted long enough for me to clear a five acre lot full of oak.

This is the chain for heavy use
If you use your saw a lot ( a lot of cutting) This chain is for you. Very long use before sharpening. Just beware of the possibility of harder kick back.
