  • Wrap Handle (R)
Saw can be used in multiple positions for felling or limbing with hands in the proper positions.
  • STIHL Quickstop®
STIHL chainsaws are equipped with a chain stopping system designed to reduce the risk of injury in certain kickback situations. It is called a STIHL Quickstop® chain brake. The STIHL Quickstop® chain brake is designed to stop the rotation of the chain if activated by the operator’s hand or by inertia if the saw kicks back with sufficient force. In some working positions, the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake can be activated by inertia, stopping the chain within fractions of a second.

  • Anti-Vibration System
STIHL has developed a system for minimizing the vibration levels of handheld outdoor power equipment. The STIHL anti-vibration system helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience.
  • STIHL ElastoStart™
The ElastoStart™ starter handle is an exclusive feature of STIHL. It is a starting grip with a built-in shock absorber that helps reduce the effort when pulling on the starter cord. The ElastoStart™ starter grip noticeably reduces the sudden peak forces (compression) normally felt during cranking. The forces which occur at the grip after the first compression stroke are smoothed out.
  • Decompression Valve
The decompression valve, also referred to as 'deco' or 'deco valve', vents compression in the cylinder for easier starting. The decompression valve temporarily reduces the compression in the combustion chamber during cranking and helps reduce the effort needed to pull the starter rope. It is opened manually and closes automatically as soon as the engine fires.
  • IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor
The IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor is designed to automatically adjust the air/fuel ratio when the air filter becomes restricted or partially clogged and maintains the engine’s correct RPM. IntelliCarb™ uses air from the clean side of the air filter to control the diaphragm and flow of fuel. As the air filter becomes dirty and less air is available for the carburetor, the IntelliCarb™ system adjusts the fuel flow to compensate for the decrease in air flow. This is in contrast to typical carburetors that utilize this air from the “dirty” side of the air box.
  • Winter/Summer Shutter
The Winter/Summer Shutter allows the carburetor to operate at optimum temperature year-round and helps to prevent carburetor icing when working below 50°F (10°C).
  • Ematic™ Lubrication System
The Ematic™ guide bar, when used with STIHL OILOMATIC® saw chain, will provide proper lubrication and less oil consumption than conventional methods. The system works because two ramps, strategically placed in the guide bar rail, help contain the flow of oil and direct all lubrication to the sliding faces of the bar and chain links as well as the rivets and driver holes, which in turn can reduce bar oil consumption up to 50%.
  • Side-Access Chain Tensioner
The side-access chain tensioner makes it much more convenient for the user to adjust the saw chain with a bar wrench as opposed to the typical location of the guide bar adjustment screw.
  • Master Control Lever™
The Master Control Lever™ is an easy to use single lever, operating the choke, starting throttle lock and on-off switch. The operator must pull the throttle trigger before moving the Master Control Lever™ to the choke position.
  • Adjustable Automatic Oiler
The Adjustable Automatic Oiler allows the user to adjust the lubricant of the guide bar and saw chain for different bar lengths and cutting conditions.

MS 362 R C-M is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too many problems I had this saw for 3 years. Many problems from day 1. First week using the saw the studs that you bolt the bar too came loose. Had to take to shop to get it fixed which took a month. Next the muffler started coming loose. This was a constant issue for the entire time I had this saw. Countless carb problems and I could never use it more than a few weekends before needing service. Never ran well. Muffler would fall off constantly. Last time I took it in they fixed it but soon after both bolts broke off and it was going to cost almost the cost of the saw to repair it. I gave up in the saw and sold it for parts. Older saws much better quality.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Need better quality control. Oiler did not work, now in shop!! Oiler did not work right from day one. Now have a brand new saw in the shop for repair. Quality control should found this problem. When I buy a professional saw I expect it to work first thing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The 362 R C-M has not been fully upgraded like its bigger 462 R C-M brother! I purchased the 362 R C-M believing that it was the 362 C-M with a wrap around handle. This is not the case. It has a different side cover without the captive nuts. I believe there are a few more differences between the two saws but Stihl has not responded to my query. The Stihl catalogue does not articulate any differences, other than the wrap around handle! The 462 R CM appears to have the same upgrades as the newly upgraded 462 C-M.I feel slightly deceived that my new saw does not have all of the upgrades included!Having said that my saw has plenty of ‘grunt’ and starts on the first or second pull every time. The Mtronic system seems to do what it is supposed to do!The wrap around handle appears to be far more robust than the standard handle.Overall, happy with the saw but I feel deceived that it does not come with the upgraded side cover, captive nuts etc.I might also add that my local Stihl dealership guy was not aware of the differences and sympathized with me.I would really like to know why the 462 R C-M has the entire upgrade whilst the 362R C-M does not? Stihl should also ensure that all the differences between the 362 C-M and 362 R C-M are clearly identified in any of their marketing (e.g. website and catalogues).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good saw but needs a factory revision I bought this saw for tree thinning, ran awesome for a week and it had a problem with the throttle staying stuck open after you let it off and it made the saw run like crap, this is the standard carb version and after losing 2 evenings of work not Knowing the problem, now I know I can use it all day after finding out the simple problem! I like it because it’s fast cutting and very light compared to my 461. This 362 has the full wrap with larger side cover, but I feel like stihl needs to put bigger spikes, like the 461, little spikes suck!! Other than that this saw will start in the coldest conditions by far better than any other saw that I’ve started in the winter! I run a 20” bar on this and it handles it with ease! Recommend this saw but stihl needs to upgrade those wimpy spikes and that throttle linkage design imo!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this saw My wife got me the saw for Christmas. I have several acres of heavily wooded Forest and my friends I cut with are very jealous of the saw. The light weight and ample power is more than enough to handle just about any job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid, powerful saw that's easy to handle. I have had my 362 with a wrap handle now for a year. This was an upgrade to my 30 year old 028 AV Super (which I still use for small stuff.) Seems to weigh the same, but cuts so much faster. (3/8 chain vs. .325). No problem starting, even in 0 degree temperatures. The cost was a little painful, but I'm over that now and very happy with the saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw! Great Saw! I bought the CM with the wrap handle back in late September. Made more than 20 cords of wood with it so far. I've owned the 029 Super and MS 391. This one is lighter than both. The reason why I choose this saw. And more powerful. I installed 20" Sugi Hara bar. A dream machine! I haven't had any problems with the electronic part so far. But I always keep up the maintenance, also bought an extra HD filter. I always keep up the maintenance on my equipment. Take care of your machine and in return it will take care of you. Love the new filters! Like a dry K&N filter! Used also 8 gallons of gasoline on it. I used nothing but 93 octane nonethanol gas with the Synthetic 2 cycle. Maybe I'm lazy, but I love the non adjustment on the carb. Used to spend $40 just to take it to a saw shop. But we'll see in the future about the electronic part. We shall see if it gives me problems in the future. I'll try to keep an update. Peace.
