Important Information

WARNING! The occurrence called “kickback” can cause serious or fatal injury. Always read the instruction manual carefully before using your saw. STIHL uses a green and yellow color-coding system to help you select a powerhead, bar and chain combination that complies with the kickback requirements of ANSI Standard B175.1 (gasoline-powered saws) and §30 of UL 1662/ ANSI Standard B175.1 (electric chainsaws). Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great saw for cutting; starting it is a bit complicated I purchased a MS362 two months ago. I love the way it cuts through hardwood and its power. However, the process of starting (or restarting) it takes some learning and experience, so keep the manual handy. The starting process involves the choke, a decompression valve and proper timing. It is relatively easy to flood the carburetor if you don't move the choke to half at the right time, and if you go too quickly, it can stall. Flooding the carburetor means you have to take the spark plug out, dry it, clear the chamber and start over. Once started though, it is a great cutting machine and restarting a warm engine usually isn't a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All around great saw We live in the mountains at about 7000 feet with loads of lodge pole pines both standing and fallen. I bought this saw to be an all-around felling, bucking, etc. It's light enough that it doesn't wear you out and has pretty good power with a 20" bar. I'm not sure if I was cutting more than pine I would go longer than a 20, but it pretty easily goes through the 24 to 36 inch trees that are common near our place. I've only had it for a month or so with 10 or so trees fallen and about the same in bucking other firewood we have to process. It gets "better" with every tank so far. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for one saw to rule them all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product likes shop My 362 saw has been used approximately 20 hours. It was in shop 2 times under warranty And one time after warranty. The repair cost almost a new saw My saw would cut good until got hot but if turned off would not start until cool. After a few times of this would not start at all. After repairs I cut up one tree and no problem. The next tree I made 4 cuts and turned off. Yes will not start even cool. Going to shop again and if too expensive to fix will give a proper burial with a cross

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 9 years and never been in a repair shop. I bought this saw back in 2010 and have used it for felling trees and firewood ever since. It’ has paid for itself dozens of times over on landscape jobs and selling firewood. Plenty of power, reliable, and it doesn’t kick your butt carrying it around all day. I’ve run it hard for years and it shows no signs of stopping. Highly recommended pro saw.

Optional Accessories

  • Wrap Handle (R)
Saw can be used in multiple positions for felling or limbing with hands in the proper positions.

Standard Features

  • Pre-Separation Air Filtration System
This time-saving technology boosts the efficiency of the engine’s filter system, doubling the time between air filter cleanings. Air drawn into the engine is first separated via centrifugal force, ejecting the heavier dirt particles before being routed to the air filter. This pre-separation means less dirt to be captured by the air filter, resulting in less frequent cleaning and maintenance.

    More information

  • Anti-Vibration System
STIHL has developed a system for minimizing the vibration levels of handheld outdoor power equipment. The STIHL anti-vibration system helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience.
  • Decompression Valve
The decompression valve, also referred to as 'deco' or 'deco valve', vents compression in the cylinder for easier starting. The decompression valve temporarily reduces the compression in the combustion chamber during cranking and helps reduce the effort needed to pull the starter rope. It is opened manually and closes automatically as soon as the engine fires.
  • Side-Access Chain Tensioner
The side-access chain tensioner makes it much more convenient for the user to adjust the saw chain with a bar wrench as opposed to the typical location of the guide bar adjustment screw.
