High-performance saws to help make your job easier

When it comes to logging, farming, land clearing, tree service and big firewood...
When it comes to logging, farming, land clearing, tree service and big firewood cutting jobs, professionals trust the unique features that make STIHL the #1 selling brand of gasoline-powered handheld outdoor power equipment in America*. And at STIHL, we have a particular fondness for our professional category chainsaws. It’s where we built our reputation in the first place. To help you identify model features, look for these corresponding symbols: C = Comfort feature, E = Easy2Start™, Q = an additional chain braking system, R = wrap handle, and M = STIHL M-Tronic™.

Andreas Stihl developed the first electric chainsaw in 1926 and our first gasoline-powered saw in 1929. And not unlike the early automobiles of the Roaring 20’s, our chainsaws’ essential components – engine, bar and chain – remain familiar, though very much advanced, elements of our original chainsaw. Today, STIHL continues to put a high value on engineering and performance. That is why we custom design and manufacture our own guide bars and saw chains for all our machines in-house. This ensures optimal chainsaw performance in the field.

Great all around saw for anyone
I am not a pro logger but I own property and I cut firewood like a pyro. I love this MS362-CM saw and have had zero issues so far. I am on about my 7th tank of fuel and the saw gets more and more powerful as I use it and it breaks in. I recommend spending the extra money on the PRO SAW since that amounts to pennies when spread out over the lifetime that this tool will last you. It makes cutting wood so much more fun. Its like accord vs corvette. Its that simple.

    My Go-To
Day in and day out, this saw performs. With the stock powerhead, I can run 16" or 25" like a breeze. If you know how to tune a carb, there is no problem, even with the M factor, (computer). This is a great cutting saw! I run a full crew with a HT 101, 201 TC, 362 C, and a 661 Mag. Since I bought the new saws, (still have the old ones as back up,) I've never needed anything else. My go-to is the 362. This thing is a champ!

    Excellent Performance
I told the salesman I wanted a chainsaw that had enough power that it wouldn't bog down easily and this saw delivers! The 20" bar is great as this saw is big enough to cut down any tree on my property and small enough that I can cut off all the limbs to prep for the chipper without getting fatigued. The compression release makes cold starts easy and it runs great in hot and cold weather. There's no change in performance when turning the saw on it's side to cut the stump at ground level. I would ... read more recommend this saw to anyone looking for a great all around chainsaw

Fantastic Saw!!! Good on gas, powerfull, and dependable!
I have been using a 50 cc saw to cut up pulp cords of oak. I have back issues and wanted a saw with significant power to operate a 25" or greater bar so I wouldn't have to bend over nearly as far or as frequently as with my smaller saw. Man, this baby has power and cuts through the 25 to 30 inch oak logs like it's butter. I have the 25 inch bar on it and I just love how it cuts. It starts like a charm too. Great saw.

    Real Deal, Not for Kids
Put my 361 20" on a 30" black birch and it slowly made it through, but when the smoke started had to call time out. Price tag (as usual) was a gasp, but when I got back with the 461 28" and laid into it, my neighbor was the one gasping as I cut a 20 footer into stove length in under ten minutes. Read the other reviews, if you are used to a homeowner level saw this baby will have some surprises for you but wear your chaps and it's all good

    Excellent power to weight
I own two homes, one in town and the old family farm 60 miles away that has 60 acres (25 of them are woods). I wanted a saw powerful enough to handle the large Pecan and Oak trees on my farm, but light enough to use most of the day. That’s what led me to this saw with a 25 inch bar. This saw is a beast and doesn’t have any issues chewing it’s way through large timber with all 25 inches buried! If you have large timber and only want one saw, you just found it. I have a feeling that I will be ... read more picking up a smaller pro saw (like the MS 261 CM) to use on smaller jobs and limbs as I get tired at the 4 hour mark using this saw, but I think that’s respectable for an office worker. I also have my eye on a chainsaw mill and would like to get the MS 661 CM for that. Here’s the thing though, I’m in no hurry for either of these other saws as this MS 461 is a the perfect one saw does it all solution for me!

This could be a good saw if the problem was fixed.
I bought my 441 awhile back. Ran fantastic for the first while then started having starting problems. Felling trees in the deep snow made me put the saw on the shelf cus it didnt like running in the snow. Tried using it during the spring/summer/fall but it would run a bit and quit. Got to the point where it simply would not run for more than 5 minutes. I parked the saw for the last 4 years and today I figured I'll try and get it apart and find what its problem is but reading theses posts, I can ... read more see others are having the same problems. This also tells me that Stihl has not fixed the situation and has left owners with a white elephant. So sad good product lines have to be bypassed due to getting stiffed.

    powerful wood cutter.
I cut firewood year around to burn & also sell. I use a 441 & for trimming a 211 to save my back. I owned two 441s & one 441c with m tronic. I like my 441 with mixture & idle screws. My first 441 had a throttle cable fray off it was used so much. The older it got the better it sounded & ran! I ran a 28" bar but that was to heavy & nose heavy for me. I like the 20" bar. It races right through anything! Just be alert & careful ,respect the power. The sound of it idling is really cool. Wear ear plugs. Chaps ect.

    Good stuff yeye
Ime a full time chaser on a thinning yarder, i bought this saw for personal use and use at work when only tree length comes to the landing. We got no processor or dansco and i buck 100+ foot logs with this saw. It starts everytime and doesnt even need the choke if you wanna rip on it a few extra times. My 661 gets tossed, thrown, and stepped on and packed with mud and gets wet all the time and still runs better than the lil 461's. I highly recomend it but ONLY run clear gass mix with stihl's ... read more brand of mixing oil otherwise you do get the same problems as all these other guys who blow up somthing too big for their balls

    Saw is a BEAST!
This saw was a power house right out of the box. The only modifications I have made to mine were replacing the exhaust with a dual port and removing the spark arrester. This saw, with a good sharp chain, will make VERY quick work of ANY size tree! I have have this saw, an older 066 Magnum, 056 Magnum 2, 056 Super and even an 045 Super. All of these saws, even after DECADES of HEAVY use, still run great! Some have need repairs over the years from massive amounts of wear, but these saws are tanks. ... read more Built for professionals. They are all I will ever buy, hands down.

    Scary Powerful
This saw has been a dream of mine. And now I own it! All I can say is the wait was well worth it. This saw is so powerful it's scary. The saw encourages a good challenge this saw will laugh whatever is in front. Just begs for more wood to cut! You will NEVER wanna put this sexy saw down once you start it! I bought this with a 41 on it and never looked back just always so happy I can say and proudly tell people I own the Stihl 880ms

    Easy to start, very dependable.
I have been using Stihl saws for years. My bigger saws were the O46 and the O66. Both are great saws. I recently purchased the 880 with a 41 inch bar, thinking it would have around 1/5 more power than my O66 for cutting through bigger logs. I was disappointed in the power with the longer bar. I ordered a 30 inch bar and chain to try and get the cutting speed where I had expected it. It did cut faster, but for the money I would stick with the O66 (now the 660).

    Old School Saw
Great saw without the modern computer chip technology. Being an old school kind of guy, this was important to me. Starts on the 2nd or 3rd pull when cold and on the first pull when warmed up. Very powerful. I am not a commercial logger but like having the power of an industrial grade saw. I would recommend this saw to anyone who has experience with saws and needs that extra power, when the job calls for it. Not recommended for inexperienced users.

    This chainsaw is awesome
I love how easy it is to start and put gas and oil in it. It has a ton of power compared to the 16in. Husqvarna I have. Myself being a woman that cuts up huge trees along side my husband to heat our house thought the 25in. was a great investment. It is full of so much torque I love it and I wasn't to scared to use, not to heavy either but that might just be me since I'm used to the weight. All in all I would recommend this brand of chainsaws to anyone.

    great multipurpose firewood saw
i decided to buy a stihl 362 after running plenty of my friends husqvarna and stihl 50 and 70cc saws. i owned a 455 and wanted more power in a simular weight package. i found this saw to have a great power to weight ratio and to be a good do-it-all saw. With the right bars and chains this saw will take care of the needs of both power classes, mine runs great with a 25" full chisel and a 18" semi chisel.
