MS 211

MS 211
A feature-packed chainsaw with advanced engine technology at a value price.

Product Description

The MS 211 uses advanced technology in the form of a powerful low-emission, fuel-efficient engine. But it doesn’t stop there. It also reduces your maintenance with a professionally inspired pre-separation air filtration system (extending air filter life up to five times longer).

    More information

  • STIHL Quickstop®
STIHL chainsaws are equipped with a chain stopping system designed to reduce the risk of injury in certain kickback situations. It is called a STIHL Quickstop® chain brake. The STIHL Quickstop® chain brake is designed to stop the rotation of the chain if activated by the operator’s hand or by inertia if the saw kicks back with sufficient force. In some working positions, the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake can be activated by inertia, stopping the chain within fractions of a second.

  • Anti-Vibration System
STIHL has developed a system for minimizing the vibration levels of handheld outdoor power equipment. The STIHL anti-vibration system helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience.
  • STIHL ElastoStart™
The ElastoStart™ starter handle is an exclusive feature of STIHL. It is a starting grip with a built-in shock absorber that helps reduce the effort when pulling on the starter cord. The ElastoStart™ starter grip noticeably reduces the sudden peak forces (compression) normally felt during cranking. The forces which occur at the grip after the first compression stroke are smoothed out.
  • IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor
The IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor is designed to automatically adjust the air/fuel ratio when the air filter becomes restricted or partially clogged and maintains the engine’s correct RPM. IntelliCarb™ uses air from the clean side of the air filter to control the diaphragm and flow of fuel. As the air filter becomes dirty and less air is available for the carburetor, the IntelliCarb™ system adjusts the fuel flow to compensate for the decrease in air flow. This is in contrast to typical carburetors that utilize this air from the “dirty” side of the air box.
  • Ematic™ Lubrication System
The Ematic™ guide bar, when used with STIHL OILOMATIC® saw chain, will provide proper lubrication and less oil consumption than conventional methods. The system works because two ramps, strategically placed in the guide bar rail, help contain the flow of oil and direct all lubrication to the sliding faces of the bar and chain links as well as the rivets and driver holes, which in turn can reduce bar oil consumption up to 50%.
  • Side-Access Chain Tensioner
The side-access chain tensioner makes it much more convenient for the user to adjust the saw chain with a bar wrench as opposed to the typical location of the guide bar adjustment screw.
  • Master Control Lever™
The Master Control Lever™ is an easy to use single lever, operating the choke, starting throttle lock and on-off switch. The operator must pull the throttle trigger before moving the Master Control Lever™ to the choke position.

MS 211 is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 124.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from The STHIL MS211 chainsaw I purchased was a lemon! The MS211 chainsaw I purchased at Ace Hardware was a complete failure. I’m thinking it either came off of the assembly line bad or Ace Hardware’s Service Department poorly refurbished the chainsaw and placed it back on the self and sold it as new. I purchase this chainsaw to do work around the house cutting down some small trees to clear an area for starters and would gradually progress my projects from there. I read the owner’s like always and familiarized myself with the chain saw. Once I felt good, I started to tackle the first small tree. The saw started right up no problems and as I just started to cut the tree, the chain stopped cutting. The chain just stopped moving. I turned the saw off and checked the chain and it moved just fine by hand. Not to tight, not to loose. And this sequences of events played out over and over again. At one point, the saw just started smoking! It was crazy! Just a bad experience! I then rewatched the Stihl YouTube videos again and some other videos troubleshooting to see if I was doing something wrong but couldn’t find nothing. This Stihl Saw should have cut these small trees down with ease, like a hot knife through butter, but didn’t live up to the task. I took the saw back to Ace Hardware’s Service Department and explained what occurred. They couldn’t figure out the problem either, only that the chainsaw had issues. I returned the saw and got a refund. I went back home and completed my project by cutting 6 small trees down in 15 minutes with my trusted Milwaukee Super Sawzall without any problems whatsoever. I believe STIHL makes excellent chainsaws. Unfortunately, the one I purchased, for whatever reason, was a lemon!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This product is fine for very small jobs. Bar bends very easy, 3 inch diameter limb may be pushing it. Motor will also need to have screen cleaned after a short time of use, today’s gas mixed with oil tends to cause carb problems on this unit. Price is good, will have to size up going forward

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Saw is a workhorse... First the Taylor's Hardware staff at Nimmo PKWY are awesome, and second, this is my second STIHL, and although my other saw is still running like a champ, it was a little big for the kind of cutting i have been doing lately. When i took it in for some routine pre-wood cutting season tune up the boys at Taylor's sold me a MS211 with the easy start, and well the rest is history.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good occasional use saw Finally decided to step up to higher quality saw from my electric saw used mostly for firewood (although I have taken down a few trees with it). Bought the saw prior to going to my parents to clean up after a storm knocked down a couple trees. Product is definitely well built. Power is decent, I will admit I expected a little more from this. Cut fine as long as I did not try to rush it. Can be a hassle to start. Choke control does not seem ergonomically friendly, and if you happen to stall is takes a lot to restart.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to start Mine start with little effort, probably because it's the C model that starts with a wind up spring. It's a tough little saw that I've used hard for the past year. Would buy again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dependable I only need a chainsaw occasionally. I didn't want to break the bank, but I wanted something reliable with an 18" bar when needed. I have had a Stihl weed trimmer for a few years and it has been reliable. I wanted to get a saw with a little bigger engine and I could have with a different brand at the same price point, but I went with my gut and bought the Stihl. At the time, maybe it still is, the 211 was also the most affordable Stihl with an 18" bar. Following the starting instructions and the fuel mix ratio I have had zero problems! The only gripe I have is the 250 went on sale roughly 3 months later for $10 more than I paid for my 211! I would have spent the $10!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product won't start The salesman had a very difficult time upon purchase and the next day when I wanted to use it it would not start at all. I had to use another saw and tried one more time a week later and still could not get it started. All that fancy pre mix stuff doesn't work if the saw doesn't start.
