    More information

  • STIHL Easy2Start™ (E)
The STIHL Easy2Start™ system makes starting STIHL outdoor power tools almost effortless, eliminating the need for a strong pull of the starting cord. This advanced starting system is designed to make starting STIHL products easier. The specific system may vary by model, but in each case, a quick pull overcomes the engine’s compression to minimize the strength and effort required to start. Available on selected products.
  • Quick Chain Adjuster (QCA) (B)
The Quick Chain Adjuster (QCA) (B) allows the user to adjust the tension of the chain without the use of tools. This allows for easy chain adjustment.

  • IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor
The IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor is designed to automatically adjust the air/fuel ratio when the air filter becomes restricted or partially clogged and maintains the engine’s correct RPM. IntelliCarb™ uses air from the clean side of the air filter to control the diaphragm and flow of fuel. As the air filter becomes dirty and less air is available for the carburetor, the IntelliCarb™ system adjusts the fuel flow to compensate for the decrease in air flow. This is in contrast to typical carburetors that utilize this air from the “dirty” side of the air box.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from this product is way to techy Bought two of these saws, (1 for gift) big mistake on my part. The easy start is a gimmick. You spend more time trying to start them than you do cutting wood. Replaced both saws with a commercial model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1st time chainsaw owner I have other Stihl equipment i.e. blower and trimmer. I am very impressed with the new engine for quick starting, smooth acceleration and ease if adding fuel and oil. The saw cuts with no effort and is compact, light and durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Chainsaw Originally had bought this saw for hinge cutting to improve deer habitat. But I find myself grabbing it more than the bigger saws For cutting firewood. Works great for tree diameters 14” and under. You could cut larger but it would just take more time. It’s light weight and has great power for a small saw I was very impressed !!!! The easy start feature is amazing and literally takes little to no effort to start. The easy chain tensioner is nice as well less tools to loose lol. I was skeptical when reading some of the reviews but I will say any doubts or concerns I had are gone. Great quality product !!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am surprised I am surprised and amazed how the pull string machanism was designed.Takes only a smoothly pull to get the motor started after priming 2 or 3 pulls and moving the lever properly. Powerful motor and with a new chain; was surprised how I got my task done, compared to other chainsaws I owed before.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good little saw for the money I have owned 2 of these saws since 2011.This model saw is a little light for cutting firewood or cleaning up our substantial yard. I usually cut about 5 to 7 cords of firewood per year and clear about 1/2 acre of spruce, birch and pine per year. Trees range in size from 4 inches to 16 inches in diameter. This model is OK for bucking and minor yard cleanup, but if you have heavier jobs consider a MS250 or a pro model. I own and operator a seasonal fishing and aurora viewing lodge and the MS 180 CBE is good for the ladies who work here. (Yellow Dog Lodge) Ambient air temperatures at the lodge range from -40C to + 30C; cold starts take a little more time to start and warm up for operations. Problems with the oiler - had to replace the oil pump and the hose.Problems with the clutch - have to replace the springs each season. My staff seem to like breaking the springs on taking down too large a tree and using the brake.Problems starting - use 92 octane fuel with stihl oil, I used 87 octane with generic oil and had issues with the carb, but after cleaning the carb and changed the fuel the saw works just fine. Take the time to do regular maintenance and replace chains when needed. No real problems with cutting, just keep the saw clean and the chain sharp and you will be good to go.
