    Good saw
Bought this for cleaning up my back yard, ended up helping cut fallen trees at neighbors, and friends houses, after hurricane Mathew 3 giant oaks, and several pine trees later no problems just a dull chain, and a tired me. And still cleaned up some small trees, saplings, and bamboo, yes bamboo in my back yard. Perfect size weight, and power for home owners there should be one in every house hold.

Easy to use and manageable for just about anyone.
Ive owned comparable size saws but the convince and reliability is hands down the best on the market! When it comes down to price you get what you pay for. After the last hurricane we had the city government had enough of the competitors saws and purchase over 65 stihl saws that says something! When a few dollars extra is on your mind just remember it will be a saw you invest in not buy to get you by.

    Great Saw
To really appreciate this fine tool, you need to have a history with less expensive expense saws. This Mod 180 is far, far superior to the other brands I have owned or used. From the time you buy and use it for the first time, you realize the Quality of parts and engineering that went into making such a fine product. And by the way, the price difference between this saw and the lower priced competitiion was very little. 3rd week after Log Cabin purchase.
Beats the previous saws I have had. We had a wind storm down over 200 trees. I burned up a box store cheapie. The next weekend a bought a Stihl MS251 and never regretted it. It took a week to before I drive all the way up my driveway to our cabin. A year later I am still working on cleaning up the mess upland. The Stihl starts and runs on demand. Has never given me grief. Cuts twice as fast and is more predictable previous saws I have owned. I would buy another Stihl but realistically I don't ... read more see me ever needing another saw. Time will tell.

    Best bang for your buck
I received this beauty from my family on my 63rd Birthday, I can tell you - I am very pleased indeed! I have felled quite a few Ash trees that had emerald bore infestations on my property. These aren't sissy trees, they are good size and the Wood Boss held up to it's name. Easy to start - easy to operate as long as you are conscious of your surroundings and stay alert and safe. Good weight distribution and pretty quite too.

Mixed thoughts about this product and brand
Within 10 to 11 months of having this saw of light home use the pull cord broke. The shop was willing to cover the parts under warranty but wanted to charge for the labor. I went in there with the intention of buying another saw 250 C BE. After they brought my saw up and explained the cost to cover the labor for the faulty cord I let them know I did not want to purchase the new saw just yet. I wanted to look into other stores and see if they charged for warranty repairs. The store then said they ... read more would wave the repair charges because they wanted to make me happy and stand behind the product they sold. I did buy the new saw, not because I didn't have to pay for the repair. I explained to the store employee that I had just recently been cycling out some older yard tools (combi) that I had for nearly 10 years problem free and trying to give Stihl a try. I wanted to feel more confident about all the yard tools I had recently purchased. BC 430 blower, FS 131 R trimmer, and the two saws. If it wasn't for the store clerk (family owned business) to restore my confidence in Stihl I wouldn't have made another Stihl purchase. Keeping my fingers crossed.

One of the best things I have ever purchased!
I bought this saw because I needed a smaller saw to take care of trees around my yard. I still cannot believe is to start, how easy it is to adjust chain tension with the tool free set-up, how powerful this little saw is, and how well it takes care of my hardwoods. I have and will continue to recommend this model to my friends and family - if you are considering the MS 180 C, I can honestly recommend this model.

    Perfect trail saw
I work with trail crews in the mountains of North Carolina. We use chainsaws constantly for clearing downed trees and removing dangerous trees from trail sites. I've worked with a lot of different saws in the last 8 years or so but for the last 3 years I've been using the 251 CBE exclusively. I got it because it was the best compromise between power and weight since I have to carry the saw up and down mountains for sometimes over 10 miles. A lot of the guys on the crew mocked me a bit at first ... read more for getting the easy start model but they don't laugh much any more. This saw has worked perfectly in every season and always starts. I used it yesterday for 10 hours on the trail clearing downed trees left by Irma. By the end of the day I was once again thankful for that easy start along with the fast chain adjustment since I had to change chains twice. I have a feeling that a lot of people who are having problems with this (or any) saw need to pay a bit more attention to basic maintenance. For instance, we only use 93 octane gas with no ethanol. If it's available in your area you should start using it right away. This will solve a lot of basic carburetor problems. Also, learn as much as you can about sharpening your chain and flipping your bar. That'll keep the saw cutting straight with no problems.

Strong saw that takes care of business!
I bought this saw to cut up a pine tree that fell after Hurricane Irma. Gassed it up, adjusted the chain using the quick adjust tool, and went to work. I absolutely love the Easy start system on this machine! It takes almost no effort to pull start it! Just make sure you use either non ethanol gas or premium with your fuel mixture. I've used it randomly for 2 weeks now and am very happy with my purchase. Looking forward to keeping this saw in use for years to come.

    MS 181 C-BE
Bought this chainsaw to use around the house, trimming magnolia trees and some other trees. I had problems starting the saw when I first got it because I didn't know how to take advantage of the Easy2Start system. I took it to the dealer I bought it from and they showed me how to start it correctly. Now that I know how to start it correctly, it is very, very simple to start. You really don't have to pull hard on the rope at all. I haven't had an issue with it. Cuts through trees like butter.

    Truly is an "Easy Start"
Fed up with my old chainsaw, that failed within hours of first using, despite my constant maintenance and adjustments, I decided that a Stihl was the direction to go, both from first hand experience with my neighbor's Stihl saw, AND from word of mouth. This saw has performed seamlessly, and it cut thru a 20" Live Oak tree like it was butter. It took less than an hour to buck the whole limb, which weighed several tons, and I didn't have to adjust the chain even once during it's break-in period.

    Great chainsaw for homeowners
I've not had the chainsaw very long but have felled, limbed, and bucked about 20 trees with it. Much lighter than my old Poulan. Stihl is a better brand and that comes with a higher price. Well worth it. The easy start function on this saw is fantastic. After spending 2hrs of cutting and manually hauling lumber in the summer, you can get tired quickly. Yours arms can be very tired and the easy start function doesn't require even half of the strength or speed needed to pull start a cold ... read more engine. Once she's warmed up, the easy start works like a breeze.

MS 180 for hurricane debris removal
Bought my new MS180 from my local ACE when my older saw refused to run. It started the first time, the second time and every time thereafter. It had enough power and dependability to facilitate removal of debris left by hurricane Irma. It seemed to slice through six and eight inch fallen branches better than my brother's saw, which was also brand new. I would recommend that anyone on the fence about whether or not to buy a Stihl, get off the the fence and get one. You won't regret it. I don't.

    good power
I have been using professional saws for nearly 20 years. This little saw has a good amount of power for its size. Its a small saw but I have a 360 Pro and a Stihl 660 that can do the big work. I like the light weight And it cuts well. I am not personally a fan of the soft start though it works fine. It feels like an option for something to break and I just have to get used to it. It does start right up. It is quite nice for starting a saw while in a tree. Overall a good buy.

    Easy to use.
I just got started w/ this saw. It starts easily, runs smoothly and is comfortable to handle. I'm a home user, so I won't perform a lot of, or very heavy cutting. The MS 180 is a perfect choice for my usage. I expect it to last a lifetime w/ proper maintenance!
