Great design and easy to use
I cut about 3 cord of wood a year and do brush cleanup. This is the easiest hand sharpener for a chainsaw I’ve ever used. It sharpens the cutting tooth and lowers the rakers in 1 motion. The only reason I didn’t give it all 5 -stars was the use of plastic in the handles. Plastic always fails on work tools. I would still recommend this tool for ease of use. Simply a great design that could be improved with better quality materials for handles.

The Only Hand Sharpner I Will Ever Use
After years of running chainsaws, I have always struggled with sharpening. Hand files would work for me but after five to six times sharpening, I was off to the shop to have the chain professional sharpened. I purchased the 2-1 sharpener and wasn't sure if I would do any better. It is awesome! I don't take my chains in to be sharpened anymore! The combination of the flat file with the round file guarantees a perfectly sharp and balanced chain. I use this tool multiple times a day when running my ... read more saw and love it. Would not think of ever running a saw without having this tool with me.

Simple, fast, easy to use, RAZOR sharp chains
I have used my MS290 for 20 years cutting firewood around the farm. I always felt that a resharpened chain could never cut as good as a new one. After buying the 2in1 I changed my mind. I run a 20" bar with Rapid Super chain and the 2in1 puts a "cats claw sharp" edge back on with just a few strokes. Its so easy to easy use, 5-10 mins and your ready to go. The handle is marked so you get the proper orientation and it files the "depth gage tooth" perfectly. Its money well spent, I highly recommend it!

Does what it was made to do
Not much to say other than it does what it's made to do. I like the hollow handle that allows you to drop a spare spark plug into.

    Lightweight, Effective, Rock Solid!!
This is a good tool and a necessity over hand filing without a guide. It will set the depth of the file to keep you from filing too high or low in the gullet of the tooth. The tool itself is typical Stihl quality in that it’s tough and effective, BUT in this case there is a more efficient option in the 3 in 1 tool that takes down the rakers in one operation and tool. This tool will not dress the rakers down as the teeth are filed, not the worst thing but not super efficient either. Nevertheless, ... read more this tool is simple to use, effective, light weight enough for any kit and inexpensive as things go. It helps you visually line up the angles and if you do your part with keeping the file level as you push through he tooth, it will produce razor sharp teeth!!

    Great tool.
This guide helps keep your gullet depth perfect. Extremely important in keeping a chain cutting like new. If you hand file, this is THE tool.

The Best Quality file guide you can own.
The Stihl files are the best I've ever used. Faster cutting and they leave a razor sharp edge . For the guide solid build the thumb screw tensioning rocks . Beats spring clips hands down. Keeps a firm grip on the file.

    Makes sharpening easy
I bought this after trying to file my chains by eye or use different tools with diffrent methods. I saw it on youtube, went to a local dealer, but it wasn't in stock, so he had it ordered. Now I'm able to sharpen or touch up my chains in about 15 minutes. Happy with the product and it doesn't break the bank.

    Best guide for Stihl Sawchain.
Solid build , no better way to hold a correct angle. With the Stihl File and guide keeps Stihl Saw Chains razor sharp. Save your chains by using this combo. Grinder sharpening at a shop heats the chains and burns the temper out of the cutters. And sharpening at a shop these days can be expensive .

    Filing kit
I have three of them - 3/8P, .325 and 3/8. I use them on all of my saws.they line up well with the cutter angles and do not drop down to deep in the Gillett, as will happen when you file them free handed. They clean up the cutters on my chains in a heartbeat, no matter how dull they have become. Excellent product and at a great price

    Chainsaw Necessity
This product in invaluable when cutting in the forest. Not only does it provide all the basic necessities (file guide, depth gauge, files) but it comes in a very handy pouch that can be easily carried from location to location. Also, the handles are interchangeable with other file sizes and pitches to reduce volume. I would recommend this product to anyone who cuts in remote locations where everything must be done on site and fast.

    The whole kit and kaboodle!
These kits are great for carrying into the woods as the pouch keeps the components secure. Its not hard to see that ORANGE laying in the duff. It might be helpful to paint the wooden handles ORANGE as well! I mark my kits on the outside (3/8"; .325; .404; etc.) so as not to get them mixed up.

    Basic but effective tool
I’m not sure how much more they could pack into this small package. It’s like the Swiss Army Knife of Chainsaw sharpening tools. I use mine to clean the bar and file the rakers when the shop sharpens the teeth (they never lower the rakers and it won’t cut as fast). Anyway, the tool is good and well worth the price, BUT now there is the 3 in 1 filing system that cuts the time down by filing the tooth and the rakers in the same operation. This tool is good and will serve you well but in the same ... read more way the computer is an improvement in efficiency over the abicus for calculating numbers the 3 in 1 tool is that much more efficient for filing your chain. You can get there both ways but one is much easier.

    file gauge
The top plate angle and drag depth are pretty self explanatory. The side plate angle is what has me puzzled. I have sighted this with a brand new chain according to the chain spec and still don't really understand how to read the angle on the saw. I am guessing that four out of five ain't bad. 1. top plate angle (check# 2. drag depth #check# 3. bar groove depth #check# 4. bar groove cleaner #check# 5. side plate angle reading # x )

A MUST-HAVE to Keep Your Guide Bar Channel CLEAN !
In some ways this inexpensive tool is just as valuable as your Guide Bar. You should carry it in your saw's Tool Pouch & clean out the oiling channel every time you pull the Chain off. The newer Bars have inadequate diameter oiling holes, resulting in a "dry Bar" condition regardless of how much you turn-up the Oil Delivery setting. A dirty channel will only exacerbate that problem! And, a screwdriver will not reach down to the bottom of the channel. Most shops tend to forget to file the ... read more rakers when sharpening your chains. This tool is a must-have to ensure the correct amount is filed off.
