    Reliable, strong, and lightweight.
I chose this model for frequent occasional use. Commercial quality homeowner tool. Has always started, always runs strong. I replaced the default 14" thin kerf bar and chain with a 0.050" chain and 16" bar to meet my needs. Motor needs a minute to reach optimum temps to run full speed but then runs strong.

    What a machine
This is my first STIHL. What a saw. Extremely reliable, easy to start and cuts like butter.

    Perfect for around my land.
I have been clearing trails and thinning out areas throughout my property to make it accessible for my kids to enjoy. I have an MS 311 which is great for felling but gets heavy when walking through the woods and up and down steep grades cutting as I go. This saw has worked great for everything I have needed it for thus far and is light and easy to use. I'm very impressed.

    Excellent light weight saw!!!!!!!!
I worked the saw all day. I used it for limbing up of about 40 trees I dropped using my ms 261 CEM(another great saw). This saw has very sharp chain and was very maneuverable in some thick clutter from the dropping of the trees. Features I like: 1. Light and very compact 2. very very easy to start 3. no vibration feature doesn't shake and jar you 4. easy to handle in tight quarters. 5. cuts without wanting to back down I haven't tried it on the large stuff yet up to about 1 to 10 ... read more inches. This saw is probably how the new saws will be coming out in the future. Little saw with a powerful punch. Throws large chips never had problems with oiling. highly reccommend

starting it up I like how you don't have to struggle to start it
I think it kicks back a lot more than my other saw

    Great lightweight saw
This is a great power to weight ratio saw. The M-tronic works much better than expected. I've buried the bar in a huge ash and it buzzed right through it. The saw is actually a pleasure to cut with and is a great compliment to my MS 270. It is expensive, but the power to weight ratio is unrivaled.

simply the best saw the average outdoors man
My grandpa bought the MS 311 I have now. It became mine after he passed. I had the MS 290 farmboss which it to was a great saw. The 290 doesnt hold a candle to the snappy throttle on the 311. I bought a piece of property that needed cleared with a bunch of different trees on it. This saw didn't flinch once at any kind of wood. From maple to hedge it cut it all. My uncle has bought 2 sense he used mine and heats with wood mostly hedge. I cant say enough about it just a great all around saw

    Great saw
I've had this saw for a few seasons. This saw will work harder than you can without a doubt. I cut 10 cord in a weekend and I dropped before the saw did. Plenty of power. I have a 16" and a 20" bar and that's all you'll need to take on the entire forest. I've never written a review before but after this weekend I had to. You'll burn up 10 of the other guys saws before you burn this one up. I should've bought two.

Wokrs Geeat, less tiring than my older 310
Since I finally dropped a tree on my MS 310 (don't ask), I bought a new 311. With the grip isolated from the engine and chain, it is much less fatiguing. I have dropped tress up to 83 feet tall with my 311, cut them to length for my wood stove, and filled my pickup without straining my back. At 68 years old, that makes for a VERY GOOD DAY! When I needed a new saw, I was asked what brand I wanted - there is only one - STIHL !

Needed a dependable saw since buying new home on acreage. Farm Boss has plenty of power for knocking down unwanted trees and cutting up firewood. Saw starts every time, a nice change of pace from some others I've had. Would highly recommend.

    great chainsaw
this is a great chainsaw for cutting firewood clearing land or working around the farm I got this chainsaw so I could cut more firewood faster and maybe do some milling I have had a few gallons of gas through it and let me tell you it does not disappoint it has plenty of power ive cut a few cords of firewood and milled enough lumber to build some bird houses and things ans the chain is so big that even after hitting rocks and several sharpening's it shows no wear so if you are thinking of buying one GO FOR IT

    I Love This Saw
I got a Stihl 271 Farm Boss for a Christmas gift last year. I have used this saw for here in New England for countless hours of wood cutting in all types of weather conditions and it never misses a beat. Excellent saw easy to handle and has the power to cut through just about anything out there. Also easy to start on those freezing days as well as the hot days. I run a 20" bar on my saw. I would highly recommend this saw to anyone who is looking for a workhorse.

    Great little saw
I've ran this saw several times now clearing and cutting up small trees. I have no complaints, it starts easy, has decent power, nice light weight and does very well what it was designed to do. I would certainly buy it again, it's my go to saw for the light stuff...

a little expensive but a great saw
Cannot believe how easy this saw is to use. Starts very easy. Is very light, use with one hand 90% of the time. Easy to climb with. Very good on gas. Can't say enough about performance. Would recommend to any home owner or pro tree trimmer.

    Work all day---extreme light weight!
Purchased in early December 2013. Fantastic pruning saw! I have 56 acres of woods to maintain and have 17 other Stihl saws. None can do what the MS150 C-E can do. That is allow me to run tank after tank to do pruning work and not slow down. I am replacing my 1996 023 that still runs great after about 1500 carving hours. The MS150 is about 6 lbs lighter. The MS 150 C-E will also be used for carving.

    Great all around saw
I bought this saw for home firewood cutting and property maintenance . Saw has great power with a 20" bar on it and runs even better cutting bigger stuff with a half skip chain. Installed some real dogs because the little ones that come on it are worthless. (My only complaint) --helps with bucking logs. "Stihl the best" is a worthy saying.

    Farm BOSS
Bought a ms391 to replace another brand chainsaw that was wore out and under powered for amount of work I have been doing. The first day out I wish I had bought the stihl to start with, so much less work and effort to drop trees and then cut them up, just lay it on the wood and press the gas. After you get over the sticker shock of buying a stihl you will happy you spent the extra money. I always thought stihl was overrated and that all the name brands were close, that doesn't apply to chainsaws I've found out
