    the weight distribution and handling
A long time ago I bought a Stihl chainsaw And it worked very well what would rattle apart too quickly after fixing it 3 or 4 times at the Saw Shop I traded it in for another brand. a friend of mine recently told me to go look at the new stihl chainsaws and after reviewing it and using it out at the farm I am glad I bought it.

This is an excellent product choice for farm and home use.
MS 271 with 20" bar. Reliable, starts easily, strong, smooth running. Fast cutting in hardwood and softwood. Side chain tension adjuster works great. Fuel and oil tank caps are easy to open even while wearing heavy work gloves. Good balance for comfortable operation. As for durability, only time and more usage will tell.

    Overall great saw
Have the 18" for mostly firewood collection and general property clean up. Sturdy and capable saw for the use.

    Great lightweight saw
This is a great power to weight ratio saw. The M-tronic works much better than expected. I've buried the bar in a huge ash and it buzzed right through it. The saw is actually a pleasure to cut with and is a great compliment to my MS 270. It is expensive, but the power to weight ratio is unrivaled.

starting it up I like how you don't have to struggle to start it
I think it kicks back a lot more than my other saw

    Excellent light weight saw!!!!!!!!
I worked the saw all day. I used it for limbing up of about 40 trees I dropped using my ms 261 CEM(another great saw). This saw has very sharp chain and was very maneuverable in some thick clutter from the dropping of the trees. Features I like: 1. Light and very compact 2. very very easy to start 3. no vibration feature doesn't shake and jar you 4. easy to handle in tight quarters. 5. cuts without wanting to back down I haven't tried it on the large stuff yet up to about 1 to 10 ... read more inches. This saw is probably how the new saws will be coming out in the future. Little saw with a powerful punch. Throws large chips never had problems with oiling. highly reccommend

Plenty of power in a lightweight and compact design.
I purchased this saw as a lightweight alternative to my MS310, primarily for taking down small trees growing in the fence lines. I recently purchased this saw with a 14" bar and have now used it twice. I am amazed how well the saw performs, even when cutting through larger diameter trees. The saw is very light which has helped me cut for several hours without my arms and shoulders getting tired. I would definitely recommend this saw for taking down small trees, trimming, and cutting limbs off of ... read more felled trees. Time will tell how the saw does in terms of dependability, but I'm confident based on my previous experiences. I found several features of the saw which make it well worth the investment: 1# Size and weight - compact and light. 2) Clear bar oil and fuel tanks which provide easy visibility to fluid levels. 3) Great power-to-weight. 4) Easy to start, just set the choke and prime the ball when cold out. The only feature I'm not crazy about is the locking bar oil and fuel caps are plastic and not metal #hence my lower rating for quality#. I prefer the metal caps like I have on the MS310.

    Nice, lightweight prosumer saw
Good saw. Starts right up and cuts with more than adequate power. Keep in mind the class of saw we are talking about here with respect to power. I never expected this thing to chew through stuff like my vintage 028 Wood Boss. I bought it because my wife felt intimidated using the WB with 20" bar. You need to make sure that chain speed is kept up and not try and ask the saw to do more than it can. However, you can one-hand this saw easily and make quick work of most stuff around the property.

    Great saw!
Easy to start, lightweight. I've been very pleased over the years with the performance of my 280, but my new 193 has become my favorite due to the lighter weight.

Truly a blessing! The Stihl 291.
I have owned Echo chainsaws as a homeowner. I have always wanted a Stihl but never could find one in my price range until last year, I broke down and paid what is well worth the cost. The machine cuts consistently, unwavering, with power, and tension consistent and I have yet to tighten a fairly used chain. The saw is perfect for serious work around a wooded lot and I save so much money doing my own felling and chopping. Would not look elsewhere. The Stihl is the one and only purchase.

    hard to start
My Farm Boss MS 290 runs good and has the guts to do the jobs I use it around my small farm. Only negative thing I have about it is it is so hard to pull start. A compression relief would be a great help since I have to use both feet to hold it while pulling start rope. It probably has 25-30 running hours on it now. Hope it becomes easier as time goes on.

This saw has everything you need
Great saw haven't had a problem yet I live in Canada and our winters get - 40 f . Having the winter / summer shutter stops the carb form ice ing up . warm up time is done in under a min the power from this saw is equally as powerfully as its bigger counter parts but with less weight what can I say I'm in love this saw another great product from shtl . And I'll tell to it looks great next to all my other shtl products as well

Perfect combo of weight and power
I have owned a Stihl 291 for over 10 years now. It saw occasional use until this week. It sat for almost 2 years, and fired up on the second pull. I could have used a 20" bar but the 18" was sufficient, even for the large trees I had to cut, including a live oak. Never slowed down and never missed a beat. I have cut up around 5 whole trees of over 20" diameter at 6 feet of height and haven't even used a gallon of gas.

    Powerful and Easy to Use
Fires up quickly. Surprised how much cutting you could do with one tank of fuel. Do not wait to run out of fuel to check your chain oil. Great machine.

    Love it...
I was struggling with my decision concerning chainsaws, finally decided on M291. Is the chainsaw more than I need? Yes, but I doubt I'll ever need another one. Love the power, anti-vibration and its other features. Cut through some Sweet Gum like nothing. I did have one problem. I was letting the saw idle while I got branches and such ready to cut. After a while, it started idling slower, of course it was running out of gas. So I quickly turned it off and refilled the gas and chain oil. After ... read more that it was having trouble starting and if it did start it would die after idling a few seconds. Yes I used the choke but guess I flooded it. I'm assuming. I left it alone for about 10-15min and it started on the second pull. Not sure what I did wrong but I'll figure it out eventually I guess. haha

Good light weight saw that is easy to handle
Great little saw, light and easy to use. Starts easy and has good power. Keep your blades sharp and this baby will cut like butter.

Good saw for the job it was purchased to do.
I bought this saw for my bride as her first saw. It had one purpose and that was for it to start easily and for her to start limbing while I worked on the butt end and we'd meet in the middle. Our dealer set it up with a 12" bar. In one year it has worked perfectly, never failed to start by the 3rd pull and has never stalled. The way our timing works is that by the time we meet up, she is into around 10" diameter material and it works fine for that. It's processed around 40 trees in the last ... read more year and when she's not with me, I love using it over mine as it's so light weight! When it finally dies, I would replace it with the same saw as it works great for the smaller stuff. The only thing that bugs me about the saw is getting the side cover & chain off, what a pain!

    Lots of power, small package
I carve stuff out of wood with chainsaws. This is one of my go-to saws. The other is its predecessor a stihl MS 200. Both are reliable lightweight cutting little monsters. I own 4 other saws that tend to collect dust just because these two are so easy to cut with and won't make you feel like an old rag after 8 hours of continous work. The 201 is a good bit better on fuel and has an easier to clean air filter with a shock dampening system that refuses to translate jolts to your arms. The 200 is ... read more just a bit lighter, but I wouldn't trade either for any other saw that I know of.
