    Great Service
This product probably has more power than what I will ever need. I never used a chain saw before prior to this one. So I have nothing to compare it too. The errors I have encountered have probably been to lack of knowledge on how to properly cut or use the saw. I've had a few issue with the chain and the saw actually working, but again I believe it has been user error, and not product malfunction.

    Best saw I ever owned
This saw is the best all around chain saw a person could ask for it starts easy and a tank of gas cut a lot of wood compared to any other chain saw I have ever used. I am very happy with this saw and would recommend it to anyone who needs a chainsaw.

    I only recommend Stihl
Bought this saw after a hurricane in 2016. I burned up another brand of saw cutting up several large (20' + diameter) pine trees. Bought the Farm Boss from a local hardware store. This dealer actual knew something about their saws, unlike the large home improvement store. I needed to be able to cut up storm debri and fell larger trees. They suggested the Farm Boss. Thought it was a little under powered for 3.5hp, but once I switched to the "yellow dot" chain it ripped through everything. ... read more Keep in mind this is not the best saw for those that do not have experience. The yellow dot chains can have serious kick back.

Powerful saw, but is not for a novice
This saw will do any job you ask it too and more. If this is your first power saw, please look at a smaller saw. This is the largest of the farm and ranch saws, but with a few changes it very easily could be in the pro category. Do yourself a favor and get the right tool for the right job.

Great saw, looking forward to using it for years to come.
I had never used a Stihl chainsaw before even though i have used saws for over 30 years. I have mostly used another brand before this that was a pro level saw, really heavy and hard to crank. This saw is really close to the performance of that saw and in a much lighter package. I've never used a saw of this size range that would run this long on a tank of fuel. I've so far in the first couple weeks cut up 3 big Hickory trees, 2 big white oaks, 1 large Pine and a couple junk trees that i'm not ... read more sure what they are. It runs great, I feel it's at or just below the bottom level of the pro saws.

    Powerful saw for the money
I am now retired and this saw reminded me of the 056 super I use to run when the trees were to large for the harvester. I run a 28” bar with a full skip 3/8 chisel tooth chain. I cut firewood mostly with it and it never has complained, great power, always has been a easy starter and I touch up the chain every time I add fuel. Keep the chain sharp and property adjusted and it won’t let you down. I have had this saw for 6 years now and it’s never been in the shop!

Light weight, easy all day handling
Bought this saw for my wife to use based on it's weight. I have used it on multiple occasions to cut down/trim up to ~12 inch diameter trees and logs. I utilize the ethanol free premix fuel. Saw fires right up hot or cold and it is easy to handle. Runs out of fuel at a perfect 'take a break' point for me. All in all, a great little chain saw.

Most valuable single tool I own
I know I use this saw way too much, but the combination of weight, power, and single hand use is absolutely incredible. Whether cutting numerous 1"-4" saplings, limbing larger trees, or almost any other property maintenance task for which a hand saw or loppers would be appropriate. This saw is large enough to handle most problems in the city and on large lots/acreage is invaluable to keep with you "just in case." The only downside to this saw is that it will go through some chains.

This is our go to saw
This is our second MS-291.The original is 5 years old and has been our go to saw. We needed another saw and the choice was obvious. One stays at the farm and another in the garage. Living in the woods having a dependable saw is not a luxury it is a necessity. We trust our Stihl whether it`s saving us from a blown down tree ,a rotten log or to cut a monster oak off of our mother in laws roof. Firewood cutting is just another task this saw excels at.

All the power you will need !!!
I have a small farm in NY and burn approximately 25 to 30 face cords a year. I bought a ms 291 chain saw and just could not believe the power of this saw. my old STIHL 026 couldn't come close to the power of this ms 291. I highly recommend this saw to anyone who burns wood or has a small to mid size farm. I know this saw will make life a little easier as it has for me in the year I have owned it.

    Awesome saw
I bought this saw two years ago to replace my stihl 021 saw because it was time to retire the 021. I have a 362, 291 farm boss and 044. I tend to grab the farm boss more often because it is light and powerful. I cut firewood as a side business and I love the farm boss

Great light weight chainsaw, Starts flawlessly. would buy another.
I love this ultra light weight chainsaw. Runs and starts flawlessly. I have cut down trees up to 10 inches with this chainsaw, Great for pruning or limbing up trees, Once you learn its operating range you will love this little chainsaw. Recently used this saw to help in cleaning up storm damaged trees at my neighbors. This saw out performed every other chainsaw that day. It starts so consistently on the first pull that the guys quit counting at 30 one pull starts without a stall. Can't say ... read more enough good things. It is small and if you need a bigger saw then buy one. A 12inch saw can cut down a lot of trees and do a lot of clean up with out having to carry much weight. It is easy to clean and maintain. I do use stihl premix fuel and chain oil.

Never fails, no trouble starting and running for extended periods of time.
Best saw on the market "Bar" none. Years ago after making a major purchase of several saws and brush cutters Stihl came to our workplace, FOC, and provided a safety and cutting demonstration. We all thought we knew everything there was to know. How wrong were we. The info they provided we still use every time we use one of their products. Stihl's safety PPE is above standard as well. Helmets, chaps, cutting pants and shirts are a must for our operators and have in fact saved staff from serious ... read more injury. I cant say enough good things about your products.

    Perfect for clearing brush
I was tired of holding and maneuvering a 18" chain saw in thick brush for hours at a time. This saw looks like a toy but works like a pro. It cuts right through 3" diameter Yaupon Holly in seconds. I love how easy it is to remove the oil and gas caps.Only complaint is that it wont engage the chain if anything (even a small stick) is touching it. A safety feature???

    Lightweight Powerhouse - Firewood Ferrari
When I realized Stihl made a rear handle version of the time proven Arborist choice 201 C-T top handle saw, I had to get it. STARTS VERY EASILY and 16" bar melts through all the standing dead Ash around here. Only negative was POOR BAR/CHAIN LUBRICATION. A Machinist by trade, I checked it out with bluing to discover the oil hole in bar did not line up with oil channel in saw.(only 1/3 open!) AND the black rubber plug seated proud of the housing preventing upper rear "wing" of the bar from ... read more mating flush with the oil channel. Oily razor blade sliced it flush (removed 1/32"). An air pencil with a 1/16dia. end mill widened the channel a bit and ovaled the bar oil hole to correct this. I use new SAE 30 weight (as used for decades) and chain stays properly lubed and dust does not plug up the flow. I set Oil adjustment to max and now chain is always wet. Oil is inexpensive. Must have been some kind of design tolerance issue. I ordered the saw Nov.2015 FYI. That was disappointing but I've seen that sort of thing many times over the years with high end tools I tend to buy. This is a PERFECT saw for a ground crew or pulpwood cutting(if still done by humans!) all day long I think. Very smooth power with little vibration. Overall I'm happy with this saw. Look forward to decades of use.

    Great lightweight saw
This is a great power to weight ratio saw. The M-tronic works much better than expected. I've buried the bar in a huge ash and it buzzed right through it. The saw is actually a pleasure to cut with and is a great compliment to my MS 270. It is expensive, but the power to weight ratio is unrivaled.

    Superb for my specific needs!
My Stihl MS201-C was a purchase I researched for some time. Being a relatively new model, there were not many reviews to help me in the decision process and those I did read were not all super but detailed enough that I could tell those who felt the 201-C didn't meet their expectations were really used to or comparing to a previously owned model. My requirements were that the chainsaw would be easy to start (Easy2Start System), rugged yet light, dependable, and manageable maintenance needs. The ... read more additional (Anti-Vibration) feature really does make this saw a pleasure to use as it minimizes the fatigue brought on by muscles and bones being stressed. Think smooth operation for the hands, arms and shoulders. The other features (Read the Manual) were additional bonuses. I never thought I would find a chainsaw that made cutting cedar almost fun but I do enjoy the work more now with this saw. I do clearing of property and trimming every week and this saw fits my needs.
