Product Description

Like a strong wind with an off switch, the STIHL SH 86 C-E professional shredder vac is a powerful landscaping tool – and it comes standard with the necessary parts to easily convert this shredder vac into a handheld blower. It features the same STIHL Easy2Start™ system as the SH 56 C-E, but delivers higher air volume and velocity for tackling difficult yard waste. The shredder vac/blower also features soft-grip handles and four-spring anti-vibration technology for greater comfort on the job. And as it shreds, the clippings accumulate in a secure, easy-open zippered bag for convenient emptying.

Model Features

  • STIHL Easy2Start™
The STIHL Easy2Start™ system makes starting STIHL® outdoor power tools almost effortless, eliminating the need for a strong pull of the starting cord. This advanced starting system is designed to make starting STIHL® products fast and easy. The specific system may vary by model, but in each case, a quick pull overcomes the engine’s compression to minimize the strength and effort required to start. Available on selected products.
  • Soft Grip Handle
This handle design provides a secure and comfortable grip.
  • Anti-Vibration System
STIHL has a system for minimizing the vibration levels of handheld outdoor power equipment. The STIHL anti-vibration system helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience.
  • Throttle Trigger Lock with Built-In Momentary Stop Switch
The built-in stop switch allows the user to turn off the engine with a simple press of the button or lever. When the engine is off, the throttle lock automatically returns to the “start” setting. Your power tool will be ready to be started when you’re ready to get back to work.
  • Shoulder Strap
The STIHL shoulder strap allows for greater maneuverability and helps reduce operator fatigue, allowing the user to work comfortably.
  • Multi-Function Control Handle
Having easy access to all of the controls on one comfortable handle helps makes it easier to complete tasks so the operator’s hand never has to leave the handle.
  • Purge Pump Primer
The purge pump primer feature enables the user to prime the carburetor with fuel, enabling easier starting. The purge pump primer is designed in a way that the operator cannot flood the machine by priming the carburetor too many times. Flooding the engine is still possible if the choke is not removed after the engine fires.
  • Built in the USA
Indicates products that are built in the United States from domestic and foreign parts and components.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bearing out in engine after 2 yrs I bought it 2 yrs ago worked great until this fall. Hard to start and won’t idiel. Take it to get it repaired and they tell me a bearing is out in the engine. I don’t know if this is normal but after spending this much money it should last longer than this. Very disgusted with this!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too Much Effort to Keep it Running I use the SH 86 C-E for vacuuming leafs. It is complicated and bulky. Emptying bag requires disassembly/removal of bag from vacuum. It becomes necessary to remove the main intake tube if a twig gets stuck. Removing the intake tube is extremely difficult when you want to remove it and it simply falls off when you don't want to remove it. The tube fell off in the first five minutes of use. Spent 10 minutes to reattach. Five minutes later a small twig lodged into the impeller blade. Time to take it off again...40 minutes later I couldn't get the intake tub to disconnect. Solution? Knock the whole vacuum/blower against the ground to pop off the intake tube. Does it work otherwise? Marginally. It is not better than any other small leaf vacuum I have used. It works if there is only a small amount of pure dry leafs. Clogs if you have tiny twigs or pine needles. There is considerable vacuum, so I don't know why small needles clogs the intake. Maybe the power is why it does clog. I might be able to get by with the difficult attaching and detaching of the intake tube if the bag could be emptied without having to remove the bag first from the vacuum. The strap goes around the bag. It would be better if the shoulder strap was connected to the vacuum to take some of the weight. Strap around the bag is also one of the reasons the bag could be removed from the vacuum to be emptied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Earned it's keep!!!! Sometimes you don't realize how valuable something is until try it. I had a regular blower I purchased when we bought our home but in that time we have added a lot of landscaping which created lots of nooks and crannies. Trying to blow leaves was a chore without blowing mulch all over the place. This shredder vac made my life so much easier. Plenty of power and sucks up leaves very nicely. Once you get the hang of it switching the tubes around is very simple. It's also a very powerful blower without being obnoxiously loud. I take care of my equipment so hopefully it will continue to take care of me for a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does it's job and keeps on consuming This machine has done just what I wanted it to. We had to spend hours raking in years past. We have a tree that drops seed pods year round. The leaves were not quite all dry but this machine ground them to about quarter inch square pieces. I took in more leaves without stopping than I imagined. It is a fabulous machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great power, easy to start So easy to start, even in cold weather. Blower is very powerful. Vacuum feature is great for small spaces like flower beds, window wells, etc, but too slow for large spaces like yards. Overall I'm very satisfied with product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sihl SH86CE Quality is what I expect and this Lawn/Vac Leaf Blower is exactly what I paid for. I also trust the name so it was a natural when it came to buying a second one for the small lawn business I have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic for certain jobs! I highly recommend this leaf vacuum/blower. I'm able to get at leaves in crevices and spaces I can't get to with something larger. I also found out this weekend that it is also fantastic for "vacuuming" my garage. Very powerful and the shredder absolutely condenses the leaves and debris many times over. The bag is easy to empty. The assembly instructions were a little bit confusing, but I got it done. When leaf season is over, I'm going to convert it to the blower and see how it works blowing very light snow.if you're intending to do your entire yard with this, without raking, you may not be happy, unless you rake the leaves into piles first. It just would be too time-consuming unless you had a tiny yard. It works great for my driveway, the street, the curb, crevices, and sucking up piles of leaves. Also, when we did some trimming of the bushes, is was great for sucking up all the clippings.I highly recommend! it's a definite time saver..... just not the complete 100% solution for taking care of leaves an average sized yard..... However it has additional uses beyond that.
