SH 56 C-E

SH 56 C-E
A fuel-efficient shredder vac/blower with the convenience of the Easy2Start™ System.

Product Description

The SH 56 C-E shredder vac turns yard work into less work. The fuel-efficient STIHL gasoline-powered engine really brings the power to the specially designed blade on the fan wheel – cutting yard waste down to size. Better yet, this versatile STIHL tool offers one power tool that does the work of two. It comes standard with the necessary parts to easily convert the shredder vac into a handheld blower. And as it shreds, the clippings accumulate in a secure, easy-open zippered bag for convenient emptying. And with the STIHL Easy2Start™ system, starting is easy – almost effortless.

    More information

  • STIHL Easy2Start™
The STIHL Easy2Start™ system makes starting STIHL® outdoor power tools almost effortless, eliminating the need for a strong pull of the starting cord. This advanced starting system is designed to make starting STIHL® products fast and easy. The specific system may vary by model, but in each case, a quick pull overcomes the engine’s compression to minimize the strength and effort required to start. Available on selected products.
  • Shoulder Strap
The STIHL shoulder strap allows for greater maneuverability and helps reduce operator fatigue, allowing the user to work comfortably.
  • Multi-Function Control Handle
Having easy access to all of the controls on one comfortable handle helps makes it easier to complete tasks so the operator’s hand never has to leave the handle.
  • Purge Pump Primer
The purge pump primer feature enables the user to prime the carburetor with fuel, enabling easier starting. The purge pump primer is designed in a way that the operator cannot flood the machine by priming the carburetor too many times. Flooding the engine is still possible if the choke is not removed after the engine fires.

SH 56 C-E is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 93.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good not Amazing Not super powerful, but enough for basic needs. The vacuum is a bit slow/weak if you have a significant quantity of leaves. Bag fills up quick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic product! Bought this to replace a lower quality blower vac and could not be happier. Reliable, starts very easily, solid product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poorly thought out. I'm a fan of Stihl, this one isn't cutting it though. First off, detaching and switching over from vac to blower is a huge pain and the whole system for doing so needs redesigned. Apparently you're supposed to be able to depress a plastic latch with a screwdriver or other object and release the vac or blower attachment. It doesn't work and it feels like you're going to break it every time. You basically depress the plastic tab and then kind of just man handle it u tip it comes off. If you are going to require a tool to do this, there are 100 better ways to set it up. The plastic cover that just freely dangles when the vac is attached is just asking to get caught on something and be broke off. It does seem fairly well attached, but it's something you have to constantly be aware of if you are using the vac around any bushes, porch, etc. Power is okay, but vacuum is very slow. For a consumer grade version I think it's adequate but not what I expected from Stihl. Blower is perfect. Plenty of power, works as intended. That's probably about all I'll be using it for considering the pain of switching attachments and how poorly the vac works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best way to get quality leaf mulch After seeing a presentation of the value of chopped up leaves I purchased this unit. It works very well and will make fall leaf removal both easier and much more productive for my garden next springSince I already have blowers I will keep this hooked up as vacuum. Sthil only makes high quality equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great blower Wish it had alittle more power, or a reduced opening nozzle for blowing off driveway, other wise easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I had been using an electric blower. This has been an excellent upgrade. Starts up very easy. I get the job done in half the time. No more extension cords to work with. I also have a Stihl string trimmer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality engine, but has some shortcomings. I've been an economical consumer for my entire adult life. I'm able to service my own equipment so I've always been able to maintain the cheaper "Chinese" equipment for general home use; keeping the machines running until they inevitably just die. But I've been getting tired of tweaking here and adjusting there so I've begun my equipment swap out to an all-Stihl garage. This is my first Stihl machine. I absolutely adore that "Stihl" sound you get from these engines. It's like nothing else. Because I have so much experience with small equipment I'm able to really dial down what the strengths and weaknesses are of my machines rather quickly. Strengths:-This blower has sufficient power and blowing speeds for my use.-Quiet.-An engine that I know will last if cared for and when not run with ethanol-Comfortable weight.-Starts very easily. -Transparent fuel tank so I know what my levels are.-I love, love, LOVE (did I say love?) that I can change it up and make it into a vacuum so I can get the leaves in the areas behind shrubs and around my koi pond without struggling to blow them out otherwise.-The inside of the vac bag has a clever "deflection shield" as I call it which helps prevent the mulched debris from abrading the bag. Smooth!-I think Stihl new that the reduction ratio with the mulching blades would make for a heavy bag, so the straps are securely fastened to the bag with large stitching and reinforcements. Double smooth! -Oh those sharp little blades! The reduction of leaves is astounding. I'm dumbfounded how much material this thing mulches before the bag is full. Weaknesses:-Even my dealer couldn't figure out how to get the front black plastic blower pipe off when I was given my "demo." It's a finicky thing. We figured it out, but I wish I didn't need a tool to release the lock. It should be a push-button release.-There are no identifying marks to get the locking ring on to secure the pipe in place. Sure there is an arrow for where the pipe goes on, but not the ring. Maddening.-That little muffler is nowhere near as protected as it should be. I already burned my hand.-The "door" that must be opened (again, with a tool) to change the blower-to-a-vac is basically screaming "take me in the bushes so can get stuck on everything." Yup, it got stuck on the holly bushes and nearly broke off when I was vacuuming the leaves around them.-I wish the vacuum pipe was adjustable so I can move the angle of the mouth. I feel everyone will carry the machine a little differently. Apparently I do, because I can't quite get the opening to be flush with the ground for the best "suction." Maybe it's designed that way. I don't know.Over all a neat machine. It has it's place here in my garage regardless of the shortcomings.
