Our most powerful handheld blower, made even better with Easy2Start™ technology.

Product Description

Ultimate power meets ultimate simplicity. The STIHL BG 86 C-E is the best of both worlds, offering the same no-compromise power and comfort found in the BG 86, but with our Easy2Start™ technology. Now, starting the engine is fast and easy for just about anyone – just a long slow pull of the start cord instead of a hard jerk. To make it even easier, this blower has the simplified starting system that incorporates a specialized stop switch that automatically returns to the start position, as well as a semi-automatic choke lever that helps prevent accidental flooding. And just like the BG 86, this blower comes with both flat and round nozzles for better versatility on the job.

    More information

  • STIHL Easy2Start™
The STIHL Easy2Start™ system makes starting STIHL® outdoor power tools almost effortless, eliminating the need for a strong pull of the starting cord. This advanced starting system is designed to make starting STIHL® products fast and easy. The specific system may vary by model, but in each case, a quick pull overcomes the engine’s compression to minimize the strength and effort required to start. Available on selected products.
  • Soft Grip Handle
This handle design provides a secure and comfortable grip.
  • Anti-Vibration System
STIHL has a system for minimizing the vibration levels of handheld outdoor power equipment. The STIHL anti-vibration system helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience.
  • Throttle Trigger Lock with Built-In Momentary Stop Switch
The built-in stop switch allows the user to turn off the engine with a simple press of the button or lever. When the engine is off, the throttle lock automatically returns to the “start” setting. Your power tool will be ready to be started when you’re ready to get back to work.
  • Purge Pump Primer
The purge pump primer feature enables the user to prime the carburetor with fuel, enabling easier starting. The purge pump primer is designed in a way that the operator cannot flood the machine by priming the carburetor too many times. Flooding the engine is still possible if the choke is not removed after the engine fires.
  • HD2 Air Filter
The new HD2 air filter on this unit is washable, providing extremely long filter life and lowering maintenance costs. The large surface area allows for longer run times between cleanings and high performance even while operating in dusty and dry conditions. Overall, the HD2 air filter provides better protection of the engine compared to standard air filters.

BG 86 C-E is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 214.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Blowing Power is not the same This new BG 86 C-E is easy to start compared to my old BG 86. But I must say that it doesn't seem to have the same Blowing Power as my old one. Also, I must say that my old BG 86 only lasted 6 years before the motor seized up. I only used it around my house so it never got heavy use or abuse. And of course I only used the STIHL oil product in my unit. So I was expecting it to last longer. Hopefully my new BG 86 C-E lasts longer or this will be the last STIHL blower I buy. As far as Blowing Power is concerned, it doesn't seem to be as strong as my old blower, but it is still adequate to handle the job of clearing leaves at my home. I see this as an average blower at this stage. Easy to start but not as powerful as the old BG-86. The final rating on this blower really depends on how long it lasts, so I won't know for some time if it is better or worse than average.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Hand Held Blower If you're looking for a great blower that is easy to use and can be used as a vacuum too, this is it. This is my second one and I use it quite often.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good performance, but high fuel consumption The blower starts and runs extremely well, the engine sounds very high-quality as it runs. I would say the blower is a little heavy, but is a natural trade-off for buying good power and high build quality. Fuel consumption is fairly high, so be ready with a good amount of fuel mix before you start a large job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Straightforward and simple Really easy to crank and works great on light to medium jobs e.g. grass and leaves on sidewalks. I really like the shredder option. It comes in handy in getting leaves out of flower beds, around rocky areas, cracks and crannies. It is strong enough to get the leaves but if used right it won't suck up other debris (takes practice).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong blowing capacity Purchased the blower to help harvest pine straw from my yard. It has very good blowing power and does a much better job on pine straw than my electric blower. After a while the blower does get heavy. I made a shoulder strap that helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy it. While my new blower doesn't start on the first or second pull, it does start pretty easily. Plenty of blowing power for a handheld unit and while you need to realize that it's not primarily a vacuum, it performs well on that front too. I live in the woods of far northern Wisconsin so I know leaves. it is doing a fine job of keeping the deck, yard, and driveway visible.even with this year's seemingly continuous rain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use Blower Very pleased with the performance of this hand held blower. It has a very power blower and easily move leaves.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from BG 86 C-E Gas Blower / Shedder You would think in today's world of greater technology the blower would be easier to start. It is ridiculous how you have to stand over the blower to pull the starter cord with your left hand. Standing over it is not the best for your back in the short or long term … a back pulling system would be better where you could kneel etc and save wear and tear on you body.
