Lawn Mowing Tips and Tricks

How high? How often? What direction? Having a beautiful lawn doesn’t have to feel complicated or out of reach. By making a few simple adjustments to your mowing habits, you’ll be well on your way to a luscious, healthy landscape.

1. Set your mowing height to at least three inches. Studies have shown that a higher cutting height yields a healthier lawn than one mowed at one or two inches.
2. Mow often, but remove no more than a third of the grass length with each mowing. The smaller-sized clippings will act as a natural fertilizer for your lawn and promote healthy future growth.
3. Rotate your direction each time you mow. By varying from north to south, east to west, or diagonally each time, it will encourage your grass to grow straighter and look more uniform.
4. Remove clumps of grass clippings to prevent them from blocking sunlight and nutrients to your lawn.
