Specifically, the levelsof ethanol, aromatics or other additives in some gasolinesold in the UnitedStates may distort parts of the fuel cap, which could make capsmore difficult toinstall and/or remove. If a fuel cap is not properly installedand fuel spillageresults, there is a risk of fire if an ignition source is present,which could result in aburn injury to the consumer. STIHL Incorporated has receivedno reports of injuriesat this time.

The toolless fuel capssubject to this recall can be distinguished from a newlydesigned cap whichcorrects this problem by a molded identifier mark located onthe lever of the cap andalso by a letter molded on the underside of the cap. Theseidentifier markings areshown in the example photos below:
You should discontinue use of your recalled STIHL product immediately and take it/them to an authorized STIHL Dealer. If your machine(s) has a fuel cap that is being recalled, your Dealer will install a new toolless fuel cap without any cost to you.
