Kay Kamish - Farm Owner
From a young age, Kay Kamish knew she wanted to raise horses for a living. She fulfilled that dream and now operates a small horse farm outside of Claremore, Oklahoma. With workdays that start at 6 a.m. and chores such as throwing hay and dividing grain, Kay depends on quality tools to help her get everything done.
"From the standpoint of a single woman on a farm who needs to do this stuff - to be able to go in, pick a saw up, put the battery in and start cutting, it's been a miracle for me. I don't mind doing the hard work. Just give me a product that will do the work. Just give me something that will work."
Kay uses her STIHL MSA 160 C-BQ Lithium-Ion chainsaw for a wide variety of tasks around the farm. The convenience and portability of the product frequently come in handy - like when an entire tree fell on her fence during a heavy snowfall last winter.
"I finished with the horses and went back, picked the saw up, put the battery in and I’m out cutting. And it was as easy as that, sawing and within fifteen minutes the tree is out of the way and I've got myself a little start on my wood supply."
In addition to running the farm five days a week, Kay spends the other two days working as a flight nurse. When she arrives for her 24-hour shift, the first thing Kay does is consult with the previous flight crew and run a full check on the aircraft equipment. This is to make sure everything is in its right place and will work in an emergency situation, and it’s a standard Kay extends to all the critical equipment in her life.
"If I go out and check the cardiac monitor, I want to know that it's going to be able to charge for a critical intervention like a defibrillation. If I pick a bridle up off the rack and get ready to put it on a horse I look it over without thinking to make sure there's not something broken. With the STIHL products it's the same thing."
It's this level of dependability that made Kay choose STIHL. After many uses of her MSA 160 C-BQ, she knows it’s going to work time and time again. This combined with the chainsaw's great weight and ease of use help guarantee things run smoothly for Kay and her farm.
