  Dave Jewett

Whether Dave Jewett is competing in STIHL TIMBERSPORTS®, wood carving, building log furniture or managing his Christmas tree farm, he gives it his all.

In 1987, Dave first competed in lumberjack sports on a whim in college. He didn’t expect much on his first outing, but walked away with a world record in underhand chop.

Shortly after, Dave began competing in STIHL TIMBERSPORTS. Since then, he has won several individual events, including the World Championships. He has also broken over 30 world records.

In 2007, his career – and his life – almost came to an end. What started with flu-like symptoms ended with a trip to the hospital and a diagnosis of kidney failure. Dave needed a new kidney.

“My blood pressure at that point was well into the 200s. I was in a lethal moment,” said Dave.

Dave received a kidney from his father, which Dave counts as one of his proudest life moments. Today, he continues to compete and win competitions. He also travels with the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Collegiate Series and commentates for ESPNU.

“I haven’t won the truck yet,” said Dave. “That is something I would like to do before I retire.”
