    More information

  • STIHL Easy2Start™ (E)
The STIHL Easy2Start™ system makes starting STIHL outdoor power tools almost effortless, eliminating the need for a strong pull of the starting cord. This advanced starting system is designed to make starting STIHL products easier. The specific system may vary by model, but in each case, a quick pull overcomes the engine’s compression to minimize the strength and effort required to start. Available on selected products.
  • Quick Chain Adjuster (QCA) (B)
The Quick Chain Adjuster (QCA) (B) allows the user to adjust the tension of the chain without the use of tools. This allows for easy chain adjustment.

  • IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor
The IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor is designed to automatically adjust the air/fuel ratio when the air filter becomes restricted or partially clogged and maintains the engine’s correct RPM. IntelliCarb™ uses air from the clean side of the air filter to control the diaphragm and flow of fuel. As the air filter becomes dirty and less air is available for the carburetor, the IntelliCarb™ system adjusts the fuel flow to compensate for the decrease in air flow. This is in contrast to typical carburetors that utilize this air from the “dirty” side of the air box.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Tool less chain adjustment Do not buy this saw unless you plan on spending a small fortune on chains! Once the chain stretches just a little the tool less adjustor runs out of adjustment. If I had it to do all over again I would not buy this saw. January 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great chainsaw I absolutely love this chainsaw. Out of all the saws I've own this is the best one. January 15, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by best saw owned! Best chain saw I have ever owned. Looking to buy something bigger now that I own a farm. It'll be a Stihl as well. January 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by great little saw Great little saw. I sell firewood, and used this to section up 3 large trees yesterday. Now, I have a different brand 20" saw I use for felling and the bigger stuff so I bought this for limbing. I actually ended up using it all day. Partly because of how fast and well it cut compared to my other saw with almost twice the cc's (I keep my chains sharp, so it's a fair comparison btw) and partly because it weighs less than half of the other. It is a little hard to get going again after it runs out of gas, but it's not that big a deal. I'm also not a huge fan of the tool - less chain adjustment, but I've only used it once, so I'll hold off judgment for now.I originally wanted the 171, but I noticed the dogs were plastic, and molded into the case. This has replaceable metal dogs. It was $50 more, but it's worth it long term. January 4, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worked great for the time we used it and my gramps loves it I may be young but I've used chains saws my whole life and this saw reminds me of the first saw I ever used witch was my dads old 021 stihl and it was light and worked great and this is exactly like that Only used it for a few hours today but it worked great 3 pulls and it started perfectly December 28, 2014

Rated 2 out of 5 by dont buy this one problems fromthe strat, bogged down, coil went, bar and chain were kerf was to small got pinched in the wood. find another saw December 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The saw you need! I've had this little saw about 4-years now and still love it! I have two much larger saws but seldom use the bigger heavier saws when this little dynamo will do the trick.Cuts fast & clean, and the blades are much cheaper than the 290 series. Don't be afraid to use this powerhouse on bigger jobs, it will do the trick.I cut & sell firewood oak, hickory, and hard maple. I'm sure you'll love it to.Cheers...PS My son kept borrowing this one because of the ease of use. I put a halt to that abd bought him his own for Christmas! December 20, 2014
